Default What tyre size? Track days.

Hi just bought some prodrive alloys for my 2010 sti saloon to use for track days, what size tyres should i fit to the 18" x 7.5 " alloys.

The exisiting wheels have 245 x 40 x 18 - should i stick to these sizes or can i go narrower?

And also what is a good trackday tyre for my scooby?
thanks for listening!

Are you sure they are 7.5J? I thought you would want 8.5j for a 2010 STI?

I thought that Prodrive alloys that are made for your particular PCD were only made in 8J, I could be wrong though it has been known

I know my Prodrive alloys for an 03 WRX I had were 7.5j, but the ones I bought for an 05 STI were 8j.

I'm not sure, have you tried to fit one to see if it will fit? Post a picture up of the wheels so we can see what you have. Are they PFF7's?

I would have thought thats a bit too wide on a 7.5j rim, 225 or 235 more suited?

I would say on 7.5J wheel you should be able to run 225/40 or 235/40,but really not sure if you will be able to fit on 7.5J 245/40(on 8J is possible to fit)

Prodrive PFF7 copy's.

They will fit fine on a Blobeye and a Hawkeye, not sure about the Hatch and Saloon models. The PCD and offset say they will fit but if they actually will I don't know. Also I don't know how they'll look in the arches.

Personally I would try and get 8.5j wheels for your model as that is the size Prodrive make for them and you can stick with factory size tyres.

They might well fit fine and drive ok, but you can get issues with cheap alloys.

I meant that I wouldn't go too much narrower than factory with wheels/tyres if I could help it, as said it might drive and be ok. You'd only be increasing the wheel diameter with the link i posted not the width of your tyres as you could use the same width tyres that are on your car at the moment.

Some people don't like 19" wheels though, although those were the first I came across and look a bargain.

They look good - but would this increase tyre costs going up a rim size - especially with trackday stuff?
