Hi guys im looking for a quicker spooling turbo as i think mine is laggy spec is
05sti
Td05-20g
Ported headers and uppipe
650cc injectors
Aps induction kit
3" decatted exhaust
depends what power you want chap. sc42 will outspool the 20g and do the top end numbers.
Best bet give kev at clinic a bell and tell him the application and he will be able to tell you what is best for what you want, sure they can advise on best spool/power.
During which circumstances are you suffering lag ?
Cruising along in 5th at 40mph ???
I run with a 20g and dont find it laggy at all, just be in the right gear
Yes say sitting in 4th about 2500rpm put the foot down and nothing till about 3700rpm then it kicks in andy f said when he mapped it he thought it was coming on late but making the results once it does
apparently the sc38 spools alittle better than the sc42, although don't think theres much in them to be honest. sc42 more power top end ofcourse but you can't fault the sc38.
One of the reasons sc removed the sc40 as the sc38 was generating similiar sort of power of the sc40. Depends what you want mate. Looking at your supporting mods, you have uprated injectors, have a induction, 3" exhaust and if you are after big power then sc42 will be suited for you but so would the sc38

Put it in third then put your foot down.
I really dont understand this lag talk, if your in the correct gear then it wont be laggy at all.
its not just about being in the right gear though, for example you might not be hitting 1 bar until 4500 rpm but then on a billet turbo making same power your hitting it at 3200rpm, that means you get more power through the rev range which is useable.
If its a td06 then youve answered your own question. Commonly known to produce boost later in the rev range.
I wouldn't be able to tell the difference but if Andy suspects its an 06 then it more than likely is
