Chance of car
Hi all. I have been
Looking for a blobeye sti and have came across one on eBay today.
It is an 03 plate that has covered 95000 miles but is a 2 owner car. I've not viewed it yet but pic wise it does look ok
The owner says the previous owner lost the service history but he has been to Subaru who showed him it on computer but wouldn't print it for him
It has few bits on it such as boost controller and some thing on dash knock sensor or something.
Is 95000 miles ok on these engines.
Years ago I had a 53 plate that was standard and no matter wat I through at it it just took it with no probs at all.
The advert says its in Troon if anybody could please look and give there opinion
Thank you all and merry Xmas

95k is ok on the engine, as long as its been serviced correctly and also remember that although the block itself may be fine at 95k miles, the other bits might not.

I wouldn't touch any car on EBAY, let alone an STi that could eat your cash if its a lemon.
The lack of service history (I'd take the 'Subaru have it on their records but won't print it out' with a pinch of salt) is also a worry. Who loses the history for their car? Not many, especially when so important for this type of car.
These cars are normally driven fairly hard - so driveshafts, turbos get a bit of stick

Nothing wrong with Ebay! (Just bought a Fiat Uno for £620 as a run-a-round and it's fabulous).
But walk away from any car without Service History unless it's stupid cheap - there's plenty others out there with owners who've cared enough to keep track of their car's paperwork.

Surely there are others out there with lower Miles and lots of history? Pay a little more and get a good one not worth the risk.

im in scotland too, and i had to come to my parents in london to get my STI in august. have u tried scottishscoobies.net ?
5500 isnt the best price for a car with 95k and no history...
i paid 6200 for my 53 plate STI PPP running 325bhp. 64k miles had years MOT, just serviced, new tyres all round. car was immaculate all over, and full service history with all receipts from new too. including ECUtech map, exhaust ect
so id give that ebay 1 a miss tbh

Personally looks good to me. I bought my car with hardly any service history with 90k on the clock. 4 years later still going strong. Fuel pump being the only part I replaced
