wagon trouble
My recent thread explaining my turbo running ruff, was told off someone todo a code test... and showing up 22 knock sensor.
After this error shows, would this be the reason why its idling/ accelerating lumpy?
Or just be anythin
Thanks

its a very good reason why it would be running rough.
first ensure your not running the incorrect fuel for your car
second, replace your knock sensor
if your in walsall you could take it to pole position, they are in willenhall, post code WV133TG I think. pretty close to you and they will know within a few minutes what the problem is

Just use normal 95unleaded, whould fuel type make a difference sorry to ask new to scoobs, and will order part and fit all else fails will take it over, but might stuggle as very bad at running

I've always used 99 and was under the impression that this was needed and advised to prevent knock and poor running. I would never put anything other than 99 in mine.

I'd keep it off boost, fill up on 99 and run a few tanks through. Then get it to a garage to check no damage has been done, considering the lumpy running. Get a full health check on the engine, sensors etc.

"Detonation (also called knock, knocking or spark knock, pinking or pinging) in spark-ignition internal combustion engines occurs when combustion of the air/fuel mixture in the cylinder starts off correctly in response to ignition by the spark plug, but one or more pockets of air/fuel mixture explode outside the envelope of the normal combustion front. The fuel-air charge is meant to be ignited by the spark plug only, and at a precise time in the piston's stroke cycle. The peak of the combustion process no longer occurs at the optimum moment for the four-stroke cycle. The shock wave creates the characteristic metallic "pinging" sound, and cylinder pressure increases dramatically. Effects of engine knocking range from inconsequential to completely destructive."

Taken from a webpage on the matter. Have a Google or a good search on this site - it can be terminal as the knock sensor is not safety valve. Fingers crossed for you.
You may simply need a new sensor though, and the issues may be elsewhere. I'd get it to a garage asap and set your mind at peace. Mind you, cash is tight this time of year.

@sprigeeter think best a garage has a look.
@scoobyricht, my car is uk 2000 96year. the engine came out of a x reg, i kepy my original turbo and engine to the side for parts etc.
fitted engine and noticed on new inlet someone put uprated fuel reg on but pipe was cut and reg missing, so swapped to my original inlet so injectors and fuel reg, and as much as i know ecu standard not owned long you see. turb is a td05 but all whats different really is bottom part.....

By inlet you mean the inlet manifold? an x reg should be a phase 2 and the 96 a phase 1/1.5. the inlet manifold isnt a direct swap beween phase 1/1.5 and phase 2 as the bolt patterns are different.
If you have just swapped over the fuel rails and running the phase2 manifold then there might be problems related to loom differences. might be worth getting the ecu pin outs for you current 96uk and the one from the donor car and check for differences. not sure if the 96 is a 3plug ecu or 4 but the x reg ecu should be a 4 plug....

where the 4 bolts on each side in a straight line like . . . . or staggered like ` . . `?
Straight is phase 1/1.5
Either ways the engine thats gone in sounds like its the same phase. try swapping the knock sensor from ur old engine to the new one, clear the codes and see if it reappears.
