what oil does everyone use in theyre turbo classics

a lot depends on use/driving style/mods but as a min. you want 10w40 semi-synth

personally we won't use anything less than a proper ester based race spec 10w40

10w50 fully synthetic, i've used in my classic the last 6 years

checked service history on the car and the guy always used 5w 40 semi synthetic.
is this normal.

That will be fully synthetic and yes that's ok to use also

Subaru actually advised it in a classic, even had mobil formulate a 5w40 fully synthetic back in the 90's to run in scoobs, its the 5w30 that isnt advised unless extreme cold temps and then with a warning.

so what shall i use 10w 40 or 5w 40 fully synthetic? i dont mind the price aslong as im putting the correct oil in dont want to be ruining my scooby especially when only recently had it
