Advice please!
Just started noticing that the car doesn’t seem to be accelerating quite as well as it did before. In 5th gear, putting my foot down trying to overtake something and the car seems a bit hesitant and the power comes in then goes, then comes back again etc. It's nowhere near as smooth as it used to be.
I had a similar problem on our previous TT and it turned out to be the MAF sensor, although that did it in all gears rather than just 5th like the WRX is doing.
It’s a 2006 Hawkeye saloon standard other than an aftermarket back box and always run on Shell V Power.
Any ideas anyone???
Cheers

I would suspect may be a coil pack/spark plug/ht lead as it is only happening under maximum load.
Either that or has your clutch started to slip?

The revs seem to rise in time with acceleration, but it's both very jerky.
Hard to explain but I'll put my foot down and the revs will go up and the car will accelerate for a split second then heistate and then accelerate again. The revs will match this so will increase, then sit, then increase again. Only seems to happen 5th, and doesn't happen all the time. Did a 160 mile trip home last night and probably half of the times I accelerated it was fine. No pattern that I could spot really either other than it seemed to be a bit worse on stretches of motorway that were inclined slightly...
Confused to say the least!

I had same problem on my bmw, only seemed to do it either at high revs or 5th, turned out to be a trapped ht lead, I'd check your plugs and ht leads first pal.

Good stuff, cheers for the advice people!
It's going in to have it's MOT and oil change later this week so I'll get them to have a bit of a look and see what they find.
