Default 2005 STI 2.0 Litre

Hi guys.

Im a newbie and keen to see what the difference is between the type UK 2005 sti (2.0 litre) that i'm looking at and a normal sti?

Also what bhp is the type uk. Ive read somewhere that it's 265 and somewhere else said 300 so really not sure.

Please remember this is the 2.0 litre that i'm looking to buy not the 2.5 that I believe came out that year.

Thanks guys.

MY05 STi Type UK is 265ps as standard. PPP upped the performance to 295ps, I think!

DCCD as well!

265ps (262bhp) or with the ppp it was 305ps (301bhp).

A ECUTek remap will see you 300bhp, which will cost £500 (includes software licence)
You could also change the OE panel air filter & get change out the restrictive centre resonated exhaust section!

Also, the STI that I am going to buy (next week) has 58,000 miles but i'm not sure if the belts have been done. What are the intervals for this and if unsure if belts have been done, If i ask an experienced mechanic to check, will they be able to tell me by an inspection?

I doubt they will be able to tell too much from an inspection and if there going to go that far they may as well just renew them. If in doubt get the belt and tensioners changed.
Ecutek remap will not effect reliability if mapped by a competent mapper. It should improve the car.

Ive read somewhere that you're better off buying stage1 mods and getting it remapped by a reputable mapper to take it to 300bhp, instead than getting one with PPP.
