Default is she worth spending the ££££££££

hjust would like some of your thoughts i own a 1999 uk turbo 2000 impreza in very very good condition completely standard apart from cat back exhaust and a decent panel filter .........so prob a few bhp above standard im looking at doing the bigger mods i.e decat downpipe ,walboro pump and a remap!! to get more towards 260 bhp .........th e thing is the cars done 171,000 dont get me wrong its immaculate and has every stamp in the service book up to date from new by subaru plus body checks and runs like she has only done 50,000 im just worried if i spend the 700 odd quid doimng the above she will die due to so many miles what do u think??????? shall i just leave her standard as she seems very happy this way never had a problem with her!!! just getting a bit bored of the 218bhp now ...or another option is just keep driving it until it dies then by a p1 ,sti or something already well tuned???? thoughts please has anyone else had a high mileagfe scoob ?????? how long do they live for ??????? i had a golf vr6 before it had done 250,000 lol

Completely your call but I would run it uuntil you have the funds then buy a P1 as if that's your end goal then you will be taking near on 1k off the end prize

Hate to say it but a UK turbo with 170,000+ miles really isn't worth a lot, it would be in the hundreds not thousands. Bare that in mind when spending £700+ on it. We all lose money modding our cars, its just how it is, but you could be spending on mods what the entire car is worth. I'm also not sure I'd want to put an engine that's covered that sort of mileage under any more stress.

In my opinion, enjoy the car how it is now. You said it drives really well so no need to change it. Run it till it dies, chuck it away and then find something else.

If it had covered 10K then yea, you'd have something special. I'm afraid it's just a UK turbo, as nice as it is and as well as it drives it ain't ever gonna be something special.

Leave the car alone, its an awful lot of fun for what it's worth, if it dies then so be it. It'll give you an excuse to save up for something that really is special

Yep, really nice low mileage special editions will one day be sought after cars. Also things like the Type R or original RA will have a good following.

I really want a first gen mint original RA in completely standard condition. Very rare beast that, if I could find one at the right money I'd park it in my garage with a sheet over and forget about it.

In some respects yes, but don't forget the UK turbo is still a good car and for the small amount of money they demand they are great. Can't think of many other cars that could entertain as much for circa £1000
