Default Wanna smaller front numberplate

Got a 2006 Hawkeye. It has a conventional UK front numberplate. Looking at the shape of the bumper behind it I believe it lends itself to a squarer one. I want to stay legal so what size should I go for? Any pics of yours guys?

I'm interested in this too for my Blob, the standard UK size seems to overhang the bracket and looks a bit floppy...

I want to keep legal though!

I have had a small one on for about a year now on the front, never been pulled and done many thousands of miles, will keep it on there until I am! Looks much better then a massive one on the front, only a matter of time before they get you though

If you have standard letters and spacing you only need 11mm around the outside to be legal. So particularly if you have a plate with less characters on it you could shorten it by quite a lot, and also you can probably take 3 or 4 mm off top and bottom, from my measurements, which might just help enough with aesthetics

9x3 for sure

I had one on my06 hawkeye and after a year been pulled over and got ticket for that + had to go to mot station - that's extra cost few quid . not worth it - that's my opinion

Want it to be legal and as I have 7 characters there is not much to be gained by shortening the conventional one. any pics of 4 characters on the top and 3 underneath like the 4x4 ones? (11x8) Also is there a smaller import one? and is it legal?

Took it to the cop shop before fitting it to ask a traffic cop if it was legal, his reply was YES although " depends on the copper pulling you"

Its a standard 4x4 size i think. I had an even smaller plate at first, but the missus was pulled and fined £60, so had to fit a legal size.

I have a standard UK square plate on my hawkeye, will try and get pictures uploaded.

It is a 100% legal UK size.

Halfords actually do a shorter plate. The height is the standard size but the length is shorter and it`s 100% legal.

The tiny plates on Blobs, which are actually shorter than the mounting point look ridiculous IMO.

Standard lettering, got it from fancy plates and asked for a 10mm border all the way around

Only If fitting a uk plate will affect the vehicles ability, blocking a fmic is not an excuse, I have a similar to the blue classic above, would say its slightly under 3/4 size , looks much better and no issues with the police.

Can't remember the size of my plate Andy, although you can see the size difference in this pic.

The larger one is the standard import sized plate that most get.
