Default engine gone, what to do

Son hit the sump dumped the oil drove it home and now its like an old tin can full of nails...what to do scrap it or get it rebuilt...just had a new turbo fitted too...bet thats gone too...

would like to build a nice 350 brake engine...will likely just get one of the local scooby shops to do it...any thoughts on how and who, local to guildford

By a JDM newage short motor and be done with it source from a reputable supplier and you should not go far wrong, can handle your bhp your aiming for with ease and give more if wanted, but then the question falls on your gearbox

Just my 2 pence worth

great...I have a steep learning curve with these cars and engines, had enough of fords for a while so all your input helps tons...

JDM newage motor, okay will keep a look out for one...i assume it will not bolt striaght into my car without some mods as mine is 1997, but have to wonder if it would not be better to just buy a car already modified...

looking into options...

one last question is a 1996/7 wrx sti engine and box stronger than the std turbo car...

It will bolt straight in using your heads and inlet etc, its only the bottom end required all the rest you use from your original motor and loom

Just to add mine is a newage JDM motor all on stock and is running 453/446 so gives you am idea, along with many others running similar power on them motors

The late heads won't be of use to you as they have avcs on the heads, so it would either be a case if new management and loom to fit the avcs or source another set of the same heads that suit your build and inlet manifold as you already have, should the heads have suffered. I would think they should be ok, depends how dry they have been run, maybe scored the cams and journals, but you won't know until you get in to it unfortunately
