Default DOES THIS SOUND OK TO BUY ???? FROM A NEWBIE

HI alll , as i'm new the scoobie world i thought i'd run this by you lot before parting with the cash.
looked at a few different models but decided on a 2ltr sti ppp dccd blobeye 2005 model.
have found a mint 3 owner with 73k, full subaru history with belt etc done.
hpi clear, alloys just refurbed in anthercite, tyres top brand but half worn,
not a ding or dent to be found just light chipping to front as you'd expect for a 7.5 yr old car. put a digital paint gauge round it and same reading right round so never been painted.
immaculate inside and out and goes like a train being 301bhp.
does around 6.5k sound good value , ( i think so ) but would prefer some opinions please ( honest ones ) Ive seen loads over 8k for same mileage etc ??
Also any other advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

It's widetrack at that age isn't it ???

Ignore the cars priced at circa £8K, they are overpriced with the current market.
£6500 sounds fair if its as good as you say.

It's a scam for sure, but it is an STI. Spec D to be precise which is basically an STI without the in your face bits.

Sounds like a good buy to me (the OP's car, not the dodgy Gumtree one!)

Do have a good check underneath to make sure it's not hiding rust, although you should be okay at that age.

Sounds like a bargain mate

I picked up my 53 plate sti ppp with full history 69k for £5750

Don't be put off by the mileage if its full subaru history

7k is a steal so at 6.5 I would snap his hands off

Make sure you hear it from cold start and listen when it's warm too.
As many have said if it's got a good history it should be ok and at that price I would bite his face off.... :-) prices are low so dont be surprised you get it cheaper than asking price! Did you do a proper hpi check, or a £3 job? I would do a check at www.hpicheck.com that way you get a FULL check including finance. It's £20 but if you type in "scare25" into the voucher code bit it will be £15.... not a lot for total peace of mind.

I will second that
I did a full hpi the day before I picked mine up
For peace of mind it's worth the 20 quid

Thanks for your advice, the trade guy selling provides an hpi gold check certificate with the car and it's fully clear.
I viewed it twice in the past 2 weeks and made sure it was started cold and it purred like a kitten, no probs when its hot either.
I'm well up on my fords but the boxer has finally lurred me.
just for weekend use and a wee bit of winter fun. two mates couldn't fault its looks but know nothing about them so hence the post.
its crystal grey new discs aswell. think it could be hard to get one as good when i know all its history and have spoke to the guy who bought it new, and he only lives 10 mins from me !!!!
yeah think i'll pick her up tomorrow sure what interest would b got on 6.5k in the bank !! better off with a nice motor.
in comparison i,d pay 20k for a focus rs with same performance.
but , i just have fallen for the note off the boxer engine.
i'll put on some pics , thanks

Only thing I would check is the rear dampers. Go on a test drive with a mate in the back and see if you can hear any banging, clunking sound from the rear. If there is the rear dampers need replacing. Vary common fault on all newage imprezas.

Well i picked up the blob yesterday and am over the moon with it except for noticing while giving it a clean that along the full width of the top of the rear screen is a line of rust and ever so slight bubbling of the paint. so hard to see as it almost is blended in with the edge of the rubber seal. dealer says at 7.5 yrs old and parked outside they tend to be a water trap area and this can happen on the front also.
Not sure , i,ve had loads of motors and never seen this before , have any you guys come across or heard of this problem , thanks in advance.

Angry

Do you know what the cause is ??
original rear screen , never damaged etc, is dealer correct about poor design ?? a water trap etc ??
he has been straight and upfront on everything else. Hard to know ??
How much u reckon to remove rear screen and paint the whole roof ??
worth doing as there is a couple of small chips in middle of roof.
Bar that car looks like its only a year or so old .
whats with same prob on a hawk ???
do subaru not put suffient paint on the cars ????????
