Default Whats a good exhaust for an 03 WRX?

After being rear ended last week, the garage has said that I need a new exhaust from the cat back. Can anyone recommend a good exhaust please for my 03 WRX as I really do not have any idea what the good ones are. I would like to keep the classic Scooby burble sound without going stupid loud as well as some performance gains if possible.

Thanks.

you wont see any performance gains from a cat back system.....

H&S Origional scoobysport cat back
H&S Afterburner Vortex (loudish)
Blits NurSpec R (loud but very good)

there are loads of quality systems.. it depends on your budget and how loud you want it, search youtube for ideas

I have a STi Genome silencer on my Spec C, perhaps you could mate it to a non resonated centre section?

The sound is subtle when driving normally but I think it sounds great when 'giving it the beans'.

OK so the three on my list are the H&S Afterburner Vortex, H&S Afterburner Raptor or the H&S Jap Style Angled Exit Backbox.

Is the Vortex a lot louder than the Raptor.

The garage has also said that I need it from the cat back so is that from the downpipe cat or the centre cat?

You could fit a Blitz Nur Spec S with a standard resonated centre pipe, would give a nice rumble without being obscenely loud.

I think I will go for the H&S Afterburner Raptor and afterburner 2.5 bore center pipe. Sounds like this will not be too loud but maintain a nice burble.

Just an update on this. Eventually had an HKS Silent Hi-Power exhaust system fitted to the Scooby. Its a very nice exhaust and sounds great but its really quiet. Probably my own fault as I said to the garage that I wanted something that sounds nice and retains the Scooby burble but not stupid loud. Well it does that and sounds very sweet but just very quiet.

Anyway, so I want some more noise as it just does not sound like a Scooby anymore so I might just change the back box. Tempted to go for a Blitz Nur Spec R but also keep reading good things about an H & S exhaust.

Ok cool. It will either be the back box only or the mid pipe and back box. It is brand new, about a month old so let me try and find out what exhaust I need to get and I will be in touch.

If it was just the back box would you still be interested in just that?

What down pipe have you got - decat, standard or prodrive. I would prefer whole exhaust but may be interested in rear box depending if it is 3" or 3" reducing to 2.5".

cheers
