How much are you selling the car for?

Could be legit, but if paying via paypal then be aware it can be reversed. I wouldnt risk it & would ask for cash on collection. Cash via recovery firm?

Sorry but this would set alarm bells ringing. Get a landline number you can check or as Pete says, cash in your hand unless he'll gift it by paypal, even then he can claim an unauthorised payment and you'll loose

Do cash on collection or postal order then you have nothing to worry about.

Paying by bank transfer is safer than PayPal as I don't think it can be reversed, best to give it a week though to be sure.

It is safer then PayPal, but it can be reversed. There's a lot of scams that are based on it.

LMAO of at you lot,, yes i appreciate you have to be carefull these days but jesus ,,,it was me who sent the message,, i dont have anyway of collecting a non driving car so use a website called shiply which i presume most of you of heard of so the company or chap collecting could be anywhere in the country which means id have to get the money to them and trust a complete stranger with my money hence why its easier for me to send the money somehow to the gentleman selling the car, its as simple as that,,,if anything its me taking more of a risk than anyone else,,,so sorry but this chaps now lost a sale because theres no way i can do cash on collection.

I'm not convinced about this bank transfer is safer than PayPal business.

I have been shipping a lot of things internationally and when you accept bank transfers from foreign banks the security checks are much weaker when compared to a transfer between two british banks.

I did a lot of research and part of the reason PayPal ripp you off so much is the transactions are federally insured, if the transaction is fraudulent the money could disappear but PayPal as I understand it will reimburse you.

I think he had every right to be concerned, its not that often you get someone wanting to buy a car without viewing however i realise its a relatively small sum so less risky (for you).

It doesnt have to be a lost sale - why not ring him up and have a conversation - if he knew more information like the above (i dont know if he does or not) then i am sure you could come to some arrangement once he knows your not some scammer in somalia
