Default Has the DVLA made a coc* up ...

Thinking of getting an 04 Sti blob,
HPI coming up as a wrx 5 speed manual also try and put it on fleebay it also comes up with wrx 5 speed.
it is 100% an STI , redtop, 6 speed, brembo's water spray and so on.
all the no's match but even the log book sais wrx.
the guy has it insured as a wrx and dosn't realize that if it was totaled
he would only get wrx insurance payout,
is this a DVLA fu*k up,
has anyone ever had a similar problem. any advise please.
Shaun.

yeah mate but that's his choice, pleed ignorant won't wash.
but what can i do to check it is a genuine STI before i go to see it.
its only what's on the logbook that's putting me off.
i would say 100% an STI but as i say its just the logbook.

like for example mine as it is, phone up insurance give them the reg, comes back as a impreza 2005 sti type uk 265, but in actual fact it should come under the type uk 301 model as it has the PPP fitted so i got them to mark all the veichle details down not using the registration, maby ive been abit over the top when it comes to making sure everything is right, even telling them about the PPP pack as a mod even tho i chose the 301 model that obviously knows its got the ppp to get that figure

i would get the chassis number and phone subaru it takes 5 mins and they will tell you everything you need to know, i did it before purchasing mine to backup the service record etc

Is it WRX money ???

Is it an import that was imported new ?
I had a 2005 JDM STI that was imported brand new. It's a common mistake on imported cars

as long as it's about 300 BHP i would be happy with that but
anything less i would have to negotiate.

The PPP is an aftermarket kit so wont come up on a reg check, as you did you have to inform the insurance co that its modified.

I had the same thing with my last car, it was a bugeye sti but on the logbook it was down as a Wrx. I checked through its service and it was always stated Sti on the Subaru service sheets etc. I guess DVLA messed up at registration and as its a pain in the **** to sort out it was just left like it.

Applied model code will give you the exact year and model number, same plate as the chassis code , The vin says GDB so its definately an STI
