OK,
I'm very tempted by 2 Type R's and wondered if you guys wouldn't mind helping.
The first is a '99 V-Limited version 4, 107 thousand miles. Chassis code is GC8E2DD but that seems to cover a standard V4 Type R as well. This one is for sale by a relative of someone I know, seller is a mechanic for Mercedes and is only selling because he travels 30 miles a day for work.

The second is a '97 Type R with only 90k on the clock. The seller has accidentally left the original price on the ad showing that the price has recently dropped £1k, and says "taxed until may 2012" showing its been on sale for a while. This ad looks to be from a dealer with FSH.

Both are relatively standard cars and similar priced. Which do you think I should view? What sort of price would you say they were worth?

It can't be a 99 and a version 4 as the version 5 came out in 98

That's what i thought. When I spoke to the seller he said it was one of the last to be built, but since then I've seen there's a V5.

Very tempting Guy, all 3 are white as well. I've made an offer on the '97 via email, i think the lack of response says it all.

Just out of curiosity Alex, were the "V- limited" not all blue?

Were they? I'm not sure. This is definitely white, but judging by the sellers slip up on the V4/5 he may have the "Limited" part wrong.

Yes all limited were blue and had a roof flap. Mine has anyway

The V5 ltd ran from September 98 until around April 99 and weren't numbered. Limited in production run only by soecial order and hence is the only limited editions that weren't numbered

OK this has a "private" plate on it, so how do establish the year and version? I have a pic of the VIN plate.

No you don't , it might be a WRC limited but they stopped the v-limited at a version 4
