im tempted to bid but know nowt about these,im fancying a car to tow on my motorhome for exploring and maybe play with on track. This looks a bargain.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1109473990...ht_1282wt_1186
At that price id say it was a bargain lol
Can definately see the thought behind that one, be good for both as mentioned, nice and light to tow and im betting a hell of a bit of fun at track day so best of both worlds, also takes the urge of tracking the cossie, unless........................
Bet the reserve is way up on that tho
as in close to asking price

(Very) poor man's Lotus 7/Caterham etc.
Sierra based, the way it isd will depend on the way it was put together, but the base models had little in the way of , heating etc, and were damned difficult to get in and out of.
once in, you are so low it's hard to see stuff coming round bends across high grass, for example and they are WELL below the sight-lines of lorries, for eg.
The one advertised is only a 1600 with a Weber carb, so won't be ultra-fast, but they weigh very litle, so can still be fun.
I had a go in one with a pinto 1800, converted to twin webers and it flew.

OK..
something I do know a little about.. 7's
Iv had Westwields and Caterhams for over 14 years.. on my 3rd
A Robin rood... honestly.. is to be avoided, they are at the lower end of the kit car family for quality and performance/handling.
I knew of only one thats any good, and that one was built by a total engine guru and car nut with a Cosworth all singing n dancing YB engine in it.
They are NOT light, being stainless steel panels on a steel box section chassis, 800+Kg is easy to hit with a RH, by comparison. most Caterhams and Westfields are well under 600.. my last war was 515Kg with a 160Hp (8v Xflow engine and my current is about 540 with a (bigger heaver newer C20XE engine 16v)190hp engine, thats without even going near the carbon filber parts.
if you want a 7 for a track weapon.. you would be best served joining the se7ens.net mailing list and asking around.. ther will be someone on there thats local to you who can suggest a meet to go along n ask some questions.
I might be tempted to suggest a Locosts, but they vary by make and who built it...
MK cars are supposed to be good places to start, as are anything Sylva/Fisher. but buy on THE CAR not the year.. a newer car built by a muppet will still be a **** car rather than a 15 year old that has been honed and fettled into a well sorted weapon.
I know this WONT go well here,, but if you think most Imprexasare fast... your not even close to going fast till you have been in a sorted 7. Any Caterham or Westie over 150 Hp will give the average Impreza a pasting on most of the tracks in the UK.
PM me if you want info

Cheers Viktor, what im really thinking of is something towable on the back of the motorhome ,for a bit of destination touring.I may never get near a track,if I do I wont be trying to be Michael Schumacher.Would this car be ok for that at a few grand or am I best paying little more for a known brand bearing this in mind
a quick look on PH and this strikes my eye.
if its a genuine megablade.. they are SEROUS fast.. and the engines are or were last time i spoke to someone about BECs (bike engined cars) cheapish n easy to replace.
If your half mechanicly minded /s are mostly easy to work on as there is bugger all there to get complicated
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3854751.htm
Ok the interior might not be the last word..
but looks tidy and knock 500 off from the dealer and your away
but I would still go and join the se7ens.net n ask buying advice, they are not linked to any brand so you got all sorts on there.

well if its a tourer you want...
I would stay away from ebay specials, as these cars are all about the quality of the person who built it, not how they polish up for a photo... there is much mutton dressed as lamb at this end of the market.
A nice holiday car opens up other options, but also other issues. 1st being weather gear, none of the cars are even close to water tight even with a soft top on.
For towing behind a motorhome, i dont know, these are all RWD so you will be running the rear diff and gearbox all the time at an angle X. I dont know what the Type9 gearbox from a serria (most common used) will think about that or if all the GB oil will sit at the back nowhere near the ring gears.

is free to join, loads of good people on there and whilst they are a Westfield site many people currently own or have owned other brands there not just Westies.

have a look at at Stylus, might be closer to meeting your needs.
