Default Help In Pontefract (West Yorkshire) Area Please?

Hi,

Is there anyone out there in the Pontefract and surrounding areas that could help a fellow Scooby owner out who is down on his luck?

I have ongoing issues with my new Scooby, I've owned it a week and im not having much luck with it at the minute

I have an oil leak that i tried to fix by resealing the sump, but it turns out it looks like its the rear crank oil seal or the oil separator plate that is leaking

As a result, the clutch has now started to judder so i am trying to find another clutch to fit now too

I know im relatively new to posting although i have been a member here for a while, but i was wondering if there was someone out there who would be kind enough to help me fix this please when i manage to get all the bits together that i need?

The reason im struggling is mainly because i have Osteoarthritis in my spine which restricts the things i can do.

I just about managed to do the sump myself, but i need help fixing the oil leak, mainly because of my spine problem, but also because i dont have an engine lift or anyone to help me get the engine or gearbox out, whichever would be the easiest option?

I dont like asking with me being so relatively unknown here but i am really stuck and very short on cash (due to me not being able to work at the moment and the wife being made redundant which is another story!) so i cant afford to take it to a garage to be fixed, otherwise i would do.

I was a mechanic before i had to leave the trade due to health problems so i would be able to help out, but as i said i simply cannot mange on my own, i have tools but i dont have the correct equipment to make the job easier (ie. engine lift, someone to help etc).

If someone was kind enough to be able to help me out, i can come to wherever you are, or if you wanted to come to me i would obviously supply tea, coffee, butties, biscuits ect

Please help me if you can, even if you could help out with any parts i need, especially a clutch, even if its a used one just to put me on until i can get the cash together for a new one, it would be very much appereciated. I've just ordered a new oil seal and i have some RTV sealant i used for the sump.

I love my Impreza, its my pride and joy and i dont want to have to get rid of it. Its been my dream car for years now and when i finally got a chance to get one, i did.

PM me if you prefer.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, sorry it turned out to be such a long post!

Cheers, Ade.

I know you are short of cash but sheffield subaru service only charged me £150 for a gearbox swap so while its up in the air the clutch and seal are only 5 mins extra, without a lift this is a huge job to do on a drive and not a nice one as i have done a few now mate, give sss a ring mate hes a nice chap.

HDC Subaru at Hebden Bridge. A Subaru specialist who has saved me on more than a few occasions, Honest, competent and good value at £36/hour inc VAT. What impresses me is the extra miles they go to with complicated request (e.g. on my Mercedes B200T which is a pain to say the least), if they arent 100% on the best cause of action they wont start until they can be sure, all done to save you money and they don't charge a cent for doing it.

hope you get it sorted mate. if you dont go to a garage you really need a hoist cos you need to pull the engine which isnt as bad as it sounds, engine out have a good look what going on cos everythings accessable then.

you say the clutch is juddering , not sure on this but is that what they do when contaminated , i would have thought it would just slip and btw cant you burn the clutch to get rid of the oil as a quick fix

Thanks mate.
Yes, even if i could borrow an engine hoist off someone i would do it myself if there was nobody who could help me, thats better than nothing

The clutch is juddering because its contaminated with oil yes, it will have seeped into the clutch lining by now so the clutch plate is basically scrap and needs replacing.

Cheers, Ade.

Mines just ticked over 30k it has had done;

steering rack,
front fight shock,
front left shock,
front left bump stop,
both front springs,
starter motor,
ipod connector
rust on tailgate,
Anti toll bar - front,
ARB bushes all round,
ARB drop link all round

Saying that it isn't solid Japanese engineering, its cheap German rubbish.

No, inland in Yorkshire. Its typical Mercedes nowadays unfortunately. Having joined the MB UK forums I have discovered that the Mercedes badge is little more than a front.

Guys thank you for the offers but i think im sorted now. Managed to get a clutch, picking that up tomorrow, my new crank seal came today, and i've hired an engine lift to do it. So hopefully by the end of the weekend i will have it all sorted.
Thanks again for the help offered, very much appreciated and if there is ever anything i can do to help someone else on here then i will offer.
Cheers,
Ade.
