Default My new toy!

Just got my first scooby, it's a 2008 MY08 Hatch STI, just wondering what mods people would recommend?

It's not got that original scooby sound so maybe exhaust to get that back for a start!

It's got full service history up to 30k (got 33k on now) and its got no mods (yet)

Thanks for help in advance!

Hello matey. I've just bought a hatch too about a month ago. I fitted a panel filter in the original air box, a cobrasport down pipe and I won a prodrive cat back exhaust off ebay. The exhaust has a lovely subtle burble but not too loud. I then had it remapped by slowboy racing in Kent

Which panel filter? I've seen the K&N and the Cosworth ones, I think I'll change the exhaust too.

Did you get much extra power from stock with the remap?

I fitted a k&n one but cosworth one will be fine also. The tuner who remapped by car did so on the road so I had no power figures. Most people suggest with the mods I have it's around 360bhp and 380/390lb/ft

Yeah and I didn't know anything about it til I joined these forums. Now I'm a nervous wreck every time I hear the most subtle of noises

cat back exhaust panal filter then a re-map by dynamix or some other good tuner should give 340bhp at 375 torque

what you have to remember the STI has had one or two slight problems
as in at anytime they can blow up usually number 2 piston and when it goes it will cost many 1000s of pounds
it takes a brave man to buy one see here

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...engine+failure

its at your own risk if you do a mod such as a full exhaust then run without a map

dont worry though mine has 52000 and is going strong they usually looking at the thread above go between 8 and 38 thousand miles
anyway welcome to the forum and enjoy your toy, you should really class it as a dinky and keep it boxed

mines got 35k on it with no problems, I've bought a 2 year full everything except consumables (tyres, brakes etc) warranty on it. I had a feeling the slightest thing going wrong might cost a fortune!

Well that warranty will be void if you modify in any way.

My advise would be, any money you have to spend on mods such as exhausts, sport cats ect put in in a pot until you have enough for forged pistons, arp studs and cosworth head gaskets.
Keep it bog standard until the warranty runs out by which time you may have enough for the re-build. If you have enough money now i would get the re-build and throw the warranty in the bin.
