Mpg on a run impreza
got a 2005 blobeye impreza 2.0 gx sport standard apart from a rear back box im going on a trip to south of france from yorkshire in the uk what mpg should i get or what mpg do you guys get as ive only had this a month or 2 ?
what is the average miles per tank? is it 15.9 gallon ?
i dont drive like a loony sticking to all sped limits aswell dont like the idea of the french police

During a 1000 mile trip to and around Wales, earlier in the year, mine averaged 27mpg.
I was going to drive to Tuscany in it later this month, but now I'm flying and hiring a car when I get there. By the time you take into account, fuel, euro breakdown cover, the tunnel crossing, the motorway tolls and an over night stay each way, there ain't much in it.
We've also got a 2ltr diesel that does over 50mpg, but don't fancy spending 3000 miles sat in that either, so flying it is!

I drive a 2002 wrx and average 33/34 on long motorway runs, cruising at constant 75/80, when in France though I would expect much less as unlike here I cruise at 100/120, French police aren't going to want the bother of stopping you, also even if it happened you'd only get a small fine at worse with no points on licence

I don't particularly care what you get in your Golf, and imagine the op doesn't either. He didn't ask what he would get in a Golf. If it comes to that I can get 45mpg in my Beemer and its much nice than any Golf.

I think tank size is 13.2 gallons, what I do know is I've done 2 long motorway runs in the last couple of weeks, started both times with tank full to the brim and refilled to brim afterwards, 280 mile journey averaged 33mpg and 220 mile journey averaged 34mpg, as I said before kept it around 75/80 all the way, was lucky both times not to have any traffic holdups and didn't stop for breaks

He has said several times, as have others on here, that the French police are c*nts. Not only do they indeed bother to stop you, they'll even take you to the nearest cashpoint if you haven't got the 3 figure sum of Euros they've fined you, on the spot.
There's some seriously misguided advice on this forum these days - the above is an example

Chocolate_o_brain, I don't post on here unless I know what I'm talking about, My wife of 15 years is French, I've lived in Cannes and Poitiers in France for 4 years with an English plated car, have been driving there and back regularly all of the 15 years, my wifes Father and other relations are in the French police and all agree there never interested in the hassel/paperwork of stopping foreign cars for speeding.
Every journey motorway journey I've made over all these years has always been driven between 100-150 mph constantly, I don't think I'm that lucky to have never been stopped so am sure there not interested, if you read my post I also do say if they did stop you penalty is a small fine, surely there isn't much to risk with a fine of just 100 euros!
I will continue driving over there at the same speeds I always have done, in the Uk I won't risk points on my licence so hold back at 75/80 but driving in France is a real pleasure, recommend it to anyone

mine is running 320bhp and on a run i get 35-36mpg
i went to prodrive and got over 36mpg and we went down to brighton (via the guildford tunnel
) with the family and luggage and got over 35mpg
my tank hold over 58 litres (not bad for a 55 litre tank
)

My standard Wrx blob is good for 30mpg on a long run 280miles, motorways and b roads. Very consistent even if i push it at times during the journey. I want boozydave's mpg ;-) hopefully once remapped hopefully will get it. :-P

Doing 140km/h on the 110km/h stretch of the N10 south of Bordeaux. Gendarme in blue Scooby with a laser zapped us....they waved at us to slow down
....that was in a rather unassuming Spanish plated car
Speed cameras though...I don't take the risks.
BTW anyone bought a disposable breathlyser yet? What a barmy law that is

Well I've seen GB drivers stopped on French roads?
The more I think about this post the more I disagree because, if the French Police couldn't care less about speeding, why is it ILLEGAL to use a speed camera detection devise anywhere in France, to a point that none of the GPS manufactures are allowed to supply details of the cameras locations on French roads?

Fingers crossed at 100-150mph he does get stopped and receive a hefty fine

i have a blob auto..and average 27 daily....on wales tunnel run earlier in year i managed 32 mpg..( mostly motorways, but plenty of foot to the floor antics)..so id imagine a manual should manage more all way to france ...oh and tank is 50 litres..
Are the brakes bound on.
