Default Spec D drivers seat

Hi,

As most of you will know, the leather Spec D seats in my 07/07 are quite a narrow fit - WRX STi Type UK seats were so much better when I had one of those.

I'm not the smallest guy in the world lol, but as I'm sitting in the drivers seat, the right hand bolster (if thats what it's called) digs into the top of my right thigh.

By the time I drove it back from Scotland where I bought it (I'm in Hampshire) my right leg was killing me!

The padding is ok, but it's the metal bar underneath that I can feel.

Is there a way I could maybe bend this bolster bar out by perhaps just an inch, or maybe even half an inch?

That's all it would need to make the seat 10 times more comfortable for me.

I see the leather covers simply zip / pull off?

You must be a fairly chunky lad - I'm a medium (12 stone) and don't have any issues

Well I am pretty massive and I find the seats a bit big? MY06+ seats are proper fat American market seats I thought.

It might be just the way I have my seat, I like it quite upright and closer than most to the steering wheel perhaps.

If I push the seat back, it wouldn't be a problem as my leg would be at a more shallow angle, but I don't like it. The seat is also at the lowest setting height wise.

I'm about 5ft 11 and must weigh in at around 17 stone.

Must be a seat location problem. I'm the same weight as you at 6' 1" but with short legs and I don't have the problem you describe although I have to say the seats are nowhere near as comfy and supporting as the seats in my Classic when I had it.

Funnily enough, spec d, seating position as per OP, 6'3 & 16st (lost 2 woohoo), and after a long drive 2 hrs or so, my right thigh is feeling exactly as his. Looking for some sort of seat aid or a recaro LoL. My classic and bug eye seats were so much more comfortable than these are.

I'm just wondering if I could get my seat to a trimmers to take off the leather covers, bend out the frame of the thigh support and maybe add more padding.

Cover it back up and job done?!

Jeff Mussell in Guildford is amongst the best around (and local to me) so he might get a call from me soon.

Got mine sorted, thought through loads of options recaro/different sti seats/sports seat, decided to give a local upholsterer a visit, £70 later, seat removed, old padding removed, new ones fitted & seat back in car. Feel the difference straight away, well impressed!
