Opinion about 300zx
Hi Guys,
Not really sure so will ask you guys, any of you ever gone up against a 300zx? Supposedly it can easily beat a scubby from 0-60 or 0-100, with few mods.
Any thoughts or opinions?

well in simple terms meaning, it wont be able to keep up with a 300zx. whether that might be from 0-60 or 0-100 or whatever.

yeah, heard they can beat most scubby's. 380 is a lot as they push 300 standard but can be pushed to about 380 with some basic mods supposedly! Having a debate myself about which one to get :P

Are we talking straight line performance or real world performance.
Stick a 300ZX of any power on a twisty 'real world' B road and see how quick it is.
Here's the different weights of the car.
3,186*lb (1,445*kg) 2*seater non-turbo T-top
3,373*lb (1,530*kg) 2*seater twin-turbo T-top
3,310*lb (1,501*kg) 2*seater twin-turbo hard top
3,432*lb (1,557*kg) 2*seater convertible
3,313*lb (1,503*kg) 2+2 non-turbo T-top
3,602*lb (1,634*kg) 2+2 twin-turbo T-top
So no F1 fan, a 300zx is not lighter than an Impreza.

Side by side with same power an Impreza would be the quicker car.
It wouldn't completely embarrass one but would be quicker.
Twisty B road, well you can work that one out for yourself.
Rember your on an Impreza forum, I'm sure if you put the same question to the 300zx owners club the answers would be different.

And does it really matter which is faster? The fat git behind the wheel is the most important bit.
If your mate has one and says that his car faster is faster, just say 'OK'.
I bet you will confuse the f*ck out of him!

Z31 is definitely lighter than a newage
Z32 probably about the same but lighter than the current abortion (hatch)
Either way in a straight line an STI is NOT going to 'eat it for breakfast', it may be marginally quicker, but most of the difference will be down to the driver.
Also this is a bit like comparing Scoobs with Supras. 95% of the 300Zxs or Supras still on the road are running way more horsepower than factory and way more than most Scoobs can dream about before they blow up so you take yor chance!

300 ZX Z31 200 BHP, 1373 Kg at 148 bhp per ton
300 ZX Z32 280 BHP, 1580 Kg at 180 bhp per ton (some 300 BHP but heavier)
Rover 800 Vitesse (fastest model) 197 bhp at 144 bhp per ton
Latest Sti 296 BHP, 1505 Kg at 200 bhp per ton.
Verdict :- Scooby should see off the Nissan comfortably and will give the Rover 50 yds start and still beat it to the quarter mile post without really trying.
By the way F1 Fan, the Sti hatch is only 10kg heavier than the Hawkeye Sti.

2003 Sti was a bit lighter but less power.
Subaru official spec weights :- (not some dreamed up figure)
Hawkeye Sti (2006-7) 1495 Kg
Hatch Sti (2008-) 1505 Kg

Nope, had 3 classics then a newage..... then went back to a classic. I know everyone but me says the blob STI was a better car than a lowly Turbo 2000.... not for me it wasn't. Admittedly I was unlucky with mine..... a litany of faults over 3 years, but even when it was right.... well I just prefer the classics, just my opinion.

Two of the salesmen in my workplace have them (ex Nissan dealer) one is a short wheel base and looks much more aggressively stanced, parked next to the std car its about a foot shorter, all length reduction is in the rear 1/4's, swb is a 2 seater.
