Internal Mods to Engine and Reliability
#1
What internal engine mods do you guys do when you start upping the boost to get the big power numbers on the Scoobs? How is reliability if you take a stock MY00 up to 280+bhp?

Mark,
There are a few UK spec' cars running circa 280bhp, with 1, or 2 running over 300bhp. All of these cars currently have stock internals.
If you feel you need to go internal, you're looking at rods, and pistons as far as strength is concerned. The standard crank is fine.
I'd start off with sorting the exhaust, intake, re-mappable ecu, and a bigger turbo. Then water injection.
Danny Fisher got 289bhp/260ftlbs of torque at Sat' RR day, running exhaust, intake, Link ecu, hybrid turbo. He was only running 16psi (1.1bar). For now
Pat has done similar mods, but runs a Pectel, and MUCH bigger turbo, and water injection. He got 307bhp/263ftlbs, on 16psi, but he's still mapping the Pectel.
The engines seem to be stronger than some tuners have lead us to believe, and it appears that picking the right mod's, and choosing someone who knows how to map the chosen ecu goes a long way.
Mark.
