Default What your opinion on a 00 1.6 4 door impreza

I am going to look at a 1.6 impreza this evening what should I look out for? its very small money because of no NCT. It has a respray and sticker kit done new pads, plugs and oil changed. Is there anything I should know? Are they hard on juice? it's going to be used as a every day family car.

Well before everyone else jumps in. It will be severely underpowered compared to everything else on the market.

If it's the 4WD version then it will be thirsty too.

If you still want it then check for rust around the arches as that can be very expensive to fix. Also listen out for knocks on the suspension (Mainly the rear).

Other than that it's just like any other car.

Power is not much of a issue the car will be mainly for the woman and it's a upgrade from a 1.1 saxo what causes the knocking noise from the rear ? And compared to a 1.6 petrol advensis would there be much of a difference in power and petrol consumption.

It will be no quicker than your 1.1 saxo but will drink an awful lot more fuel.

As Mat says. The Avensis would be quicker and more economical too.

Shoot me down here but to me unless the impreza is a turbo, there are lots of better cars out there.

A stickered up 1.6 Impreza just doesn't make any sense to me at all.

Cheap respray, needs tyres. Honestly if you want a subaru experience, leave this and wait until you can get hold of a WRX/STI as you will only be disappointed.
Plenty of VW's etc out there for the same sort of money Id say.

In that case, definitely skip this one, you would feel awful going from an sti to that.Derv is the best bet for a family wagon and save plenty on fueling it.

I should have said in the first post the person wants to do a swap for our 1.1 saxo with a small sum of money. I will not be selling MY00 Sti type r I am going to do more mods on my car and use my motorbike for work the 1.6 would be for the girlfriend and a upgrade from the 1.1 saxo

Bulletproof, but will be a little thirstier than the competition as it has to power the AWD system. Will neven break and will never get stuck - no matter how bad the weather.
