£1888 Imprezas in Rochdale
Afternoon all, this is my 1st post so be gentle.
I'm looking for a classic impreza and have owned a few in the past. I'm not rushing into buying anything and have looked around several sites like Pistonheads, here, ebay and gumtree. Ideally i'm looking for something thats had the performance side of things done, like brakes, suspension, remap/engine mods so I can then concentrate on looks, wheels etc as I work in a bodyshop. Ideally i'd like an Sti, cant stretch to a type r unfortunately.
Ive noticed a place in Rochdale selling quite a few modified imprezas but theyre all priced the same, £1888. All the ads look the same and they appear on gumtree about twice a day. Is this a scam?
They've also got a v5 sti listed on there and ebay but its scary cheap for £2650. I'd love to know if anyone has dealt with this guy?? Too good to be true?

Urban, i'm like you, very sceptical about the prices/cars but i've looked around on here and the net in general and cant find any bad press about the seller. The Sti has a mods list a mile long so even if it was a nail, surely it would be worth buying just for the bits?

not sure on posting links but try this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350-BHP-SU...ht_1144wt_1263
and heres the ones on gumtree, all the same seller, ABZ. He always puts "extremely fast" as the title but seems to get about 5+ imprezas a week.

I asked him if he's got any proof of the power he's quoting and he said no and none of his cars mention being mapped but the mods list on that sti speak for themselves. I just dont want to buy a lemon but the price of it seems tempting. I'm also looking at others, v3 sti's for under 2500 that seem to have a lot of history etc but ideally would like as much car for my money as poss. Seems to be a lot of people struggling to sell sti's at the moment, lots being relisted daily/weekly on gumtree and ebay.

I agree lads, clearly he just buys them in and sells them on without knowing the full spec etc BUT in some cases the car has enough done to it to make it a viable buy. Its a tricky one, that sti could be a genuine car that someone has put the time/effort/money into and its just being sold by someone clueless. The ads have been running for months and i've done a search on here but no-ones said anything bad about them, and the feedback on ebay is ok. At the end of the day, i'm only about an hour from Rochdale so might go up and suss the place out for myself. Are there any Impreza sellers from around Manchester/Rochdale way that spring to mind, Ive read about a few places up north with a bad rep on here but cant remember the names.

If you really want a car that age you can rely on to be without skeletons in the cupboard-buy a shall and make your own!
These things have all been nicked/rebuilt/painted/bumped/nicked again/blown engine and cheap rebuild/blown again/ crap remap/rebuild/remap/neons and big stereo/tinted/painted/remap/proper rebuild/nicked/traded in so you'd be so very lucky to find an original car if ever one still exists.
Make your own I say. API engine/gearbox and a rolling shell and you'll at least know what you have.
Other than that best of luck.

***** EXTREMELY FAST ***** SUBARU IMPREZA WRX TURBO ***** 280+ BHP ***** EVO MR2 SKYLINE S3 GTI R32
£1,888 Rochdale, Glasgow
£1,888 Rochdale, Glasgow
--------------------------------------------
How many miles?
Size engine? bound to be a 2.0, but still!
Remapped by who, after market ECU?
What turbo?
Dump Valve (please!)
It seems like a very cheap car, and for the money it looks like its worth a look, but im guessing here, bodywork shoddy, interior dated and ripped, probably 100+K miles... those lights look shocking!
Each to their own, just expressing my views.

This is the kind of advice I was after. Seemed to good to be true and price and quantity of cars made me suspicious.
Seems odd that theres not much info on them via google tho, good job I asked on here.
Ive got around 3k to spend on something and have had classics in the past but 3k seems to buy a reasonable spec bugeye these days so I might look at them. Had a look in the for sale section but couldnt see anything in my budget that suits me.

i'd take a look at the black sti if it's a nacka then u can easily walk away if its a shed , u could be missin a decent car or viewing a shed but i would look at it and u know what your lookin at that will help
