Ebay Header - F.A.O Harvey and other experts
I think I know the general opinion on these headers but has anyone done any proper testing with them or have any results/figures on how they perform?
They appear to be a pretty accurate copy GTSpec headers but no doubt wont be made as well. They do have a 3 bolt flange which will help seal the gaskets.
Anyone have any feedback as these normally go for around £180

I wouldn't expect a glowing report for a set of £180.00 headers, from someone who sells 'real GT spec' headers for a lot more, even if they were the same.
I'm interested in Harveys findings non the less...

It wasn't me you PM'd. Thanks for the offer but before I commit I was hoping for someone to provide feedback on there experience with them, ideally a before and after on a Dyno.
They seem to tick all the right boxes with the 3 bolt flange, slip joints and collector/general design so I was curious on the build, material and welding quality...

I have not used the exact headers in the link ,
but have used similare design chinese copy headers, unforntanly I have no before and after dyno's , but i have used gt spec before so can compare ,
they are not bad for the money , you will need to use metal/mls gaskets,
as the ones supplied are not good , also check the flanges are flat ( if not get a file and file them untill flat
only other thing is the up pipe needs to be a smaller diameter and idealy a slip joint in it ,
as after a while it will crack from exspansion (but so did my gt spec headers)
also I didn't notice no difference in power between gt spec and these headers , ( but gt spec are better quality and fitment , but are alot more exspensive )
I have tried a set of these Kakumei headers which i beleive are exactly the same as gt spec but cheaper ( they have exact same marking on the flanges etc...) so i take it they are just gt spec are just re branded
they work out at about £330 and would say are best value for money
( you may get customs charges , but I didn't when orderd from there)
http://www.kakumei-motorsports.com/p...me=IM-HDR-02G2
so IMO the ebay headers are good for the money and will make good power ,
but not quite as good quality/fitment as gt spec/kakumie,
hope this helps

Proper (read, expensive) GT spec headers have an up pipe that is too big for most cases anyway, so I reckon a set of the headers as above, along with a Harvey up-pipe would be a good set up at a fraction of the cost.

the thing is all these ebay GT spec copy's are slightly differen't , so don't think a custom upipe desighed for GT spec headers would fit them,
In the copy set I had , the 3 bolt up pipe looks the same as the gt spec , but it was about 15mm longer,
they still work well though even with the large up pipe

I nearly made the mistake of buying "GT Spec Headers". Until i spoke to Nick and Spence at CP Autos.
They showed me a how a set had cracked after doing only 500 miles.
Spence went on to tell me that they are a nightmare to fit as they don#t line up properly and they're really poor quality.
It might have had something to do with they're selling RCM ones for half price but i'm chuffed to bits with mine and i didn't pay much more than what i was quoted for cheap copies.

Mmmmm, some mixed opinions. I think I will get some and see....
Exuse my ignorance but what's makes Harvey's up pipes special? Or is it a secrete? And could it be applied to this up pipe?

If they were any good I would sell them in bulk and save fellow Scooby fans a lot of money. I won't be fitting them on any of mine and don't expect they will last very long once fitted before the welds crack. The material is noticably thinner and the box is that much lighter.
My uppipe will work with these headers. It comes to you with five new Subaru studs, slip jointed, DEI heat wrapped and the results of people who have fitted my trick uppipe after having the supplied 3 bolt uppipe speak for themselves. £149 and £12.50 postage.
Don't take my word for it, just ask those that have fitted the trick uppipe as a replacement for the supplied uppipe.

Cheers Gaz. The point I was making was that if I thought they were worth trying I would have fitted them but I came to the conclusion they were poor quality for a number of reasons and so they remain unused in the box they came in. All this despite flowery claims of an extra 20 bhp or some other crap.
Also remember that the selection of the right headers and uppipe is very important, probably in some cases as important as the selection of the right turbo. Get it right and you have a nice car to drive, early spool, good boost and torque. Get it wrong and you can watch the hedgerows grow while you wait for it to "perform"
