Eclipse Performance on TV tonight!
Hi. To all those who took part in the TV documentary last year it is being shown tonight (Tuesday) at 22:00 on Channel 4.
We were unsure what it was about at the time- The people from Channel 4 just called and asked if we would part in a documentary about passionate people. So we got together a few local car modifiers & enthusiasts (actually, 200 cars & 500 people!!) and had a bit of a gathering at our place one night last year!
It was an awesome night, and the artist Greyson Perry came along with the TV cameras and spoke to a lot of the people there.
He then went away and made a 'piece of art' about his experiences visiting people around Sunderland. We went to London a few weeks ago to see the unveiling.
We've only recently found out that the 3 part series is about comparing the working class, middle class & upper class 'tastes', with Sunderland representing the working class. So I hope we are portrayed in a good light, as the night was a real success with hundreds of modified car owners all on their best behaviour! (Actually, we had a couple of Ferraris & Lamborghini's there so it's a bit odd to class us as 'working class'!)
Hopefully there will be a few nice Scooby's on there too!

Yeah, I met him quite a bit. He's a nice chap. Bit weird though! His missus is even weirder than he is!
He didnt wear any women's clothing when I met him but I've seen plenty of footage when he was! Apparently when he's dressed as a woman he's modelling himself on his wife!!!

I watched the program as I like his work as an artist but some of the cars there - Jesus they were chav mobiles. I'm working class and I assure you my tastes are nothing like what was represented last night
Reminded me of being 17 reading Max Power!!
And the Geordie Shore wannabes
Will watch it next week and see of anyone off NSR is in there

Yeah, they deliberately ignored the nice cars that were there and concentrated on the more 'working class' element, as I guess that's the point they were trying to make.
We had a full range of cars turn up, I'm sure they showed a quick glimpse of a Ferrari & Maserati, and he did call it a Subaru meet!! lol
Oh well, I guess as is the case with all media you cannot affect how they choose to do their editing!

Thanks Deano. Your right, anyone who was there will agree- it was an excellent night!
I wouldn't bother paying attention to Baldy's posts. I've never met the bloke- he appears to want to get into an argument and slag us off on here for some reason but grew out of that when I left school 20 years ago!

By the way... he made a total of 6 tapestries, 2 for each place he visited, and each one is valued at £60,000!!
It only took him 3 months from start to finish.... Thats not a bad return on 3 months work!!

They looked very nice on the programme why in earth did he fixate on me tho haha
He does it on a regular basis Chris very 2 faced with a massive chip on his shoulder yet again another NESF moderator need I say more . I've stated before I've bought and know many others who have used and continue to use your company without any complaints or concerns since you opened I've used ecplipse and always been treated well even if your memory is like a fish lol but it was a shame they didn't show the lambo but that wasn't really working class lol

Imo it is was more about him being around people that were comfortable with him dressed in drag & how they reacted to him, it wasn't at all an aspect of working people. He only went to a salon to do himself up for a night out, didn't ask any of the car drivers or the guy with the tattoos what work they do & what work is around after shipbuilding.. I'll still watched it next time & see if its all about him in a dress or the people??.

"In the best possible taste."
I saw the Lambo several times, but assumed it was a kit car. There was an Aston as well that kind of went against the point Several under bonnet shots of the Eclipse car but little else Scoob related
