Advice people
Hey guys new to forum here and wanted to ask a few questions before purchasing. I know you'd must be sickened of being asked the same questions so here goes..... I really want an 03-04 sti wrx . Just love everything about them looks, interior , boxer engine. Never had the chance to actually drive one though. Drove an evo 5 and 7 both mates cars and they were quick. Now some people are putting me off, telling me that the scoobies are soft and don't take abuse like the evos and I,l be steady getting it fixed. Now I'm not a boy racer and will have respect for human life, my licence and my car so there won't be any abusive driving. ok maybe a burst now and again but no showing off with the car bouncing off the rev limiter. Could some give me any advice cause I would really like to get one soon before my wife spends the money on fecking SHOES. Thanks guys and sorry again for the autobiography

Everytime you drive an EVO it feels like you're on a rally course. When you drive a Scooby, it can be a hardcore machine or just a nice cruiser.
Most car and TV reviews have echoed the same description.

This is all IMO.
I've owned a UK2000 impreza, an EVO 4 and briefly an EVO 5. I've driven the EVO7. I now own a JDM V4 STi.
I am definitely an impreza person. The EVO's are great, don't get me wrong, however they just don't feel like as much fun.
I started with the UK2000. It was only two years old when i bought it and i loved it. Then for some crazy reason i moved to the EVO4. The EVO felt like i was drving a Cavalier on speed. Very boring! The AYC just did everything for you. It was very much like the top gear films where you see JC driving with his little finger. The scooby would go round the corner at pretty much the same speed but you could feel everything. The EVO had massive lag. You would have nothing for ages and then a massive kick in the back and you'd be off.
The EVO 4 needed new pads and discs all round. At the time (2002) i was quoted about 2k fitted for pretty much standard parts. I did a check with the sold UK2000 and the price came in at £200. As you can imagine i got rid of it very quickly. Moved onto the 5 and it was a little more Scooby like but still wasn't as good.
I went on two wheels for quite a few years and then realised i was going to kill myself.
I wanted to go back to 4 wheels and saw an EVO 7. I went for a test drive and it was totally gutless. I originally thought this was because i was use to two wheels. I then saw my current car, the test drive was brief but it instantly put a massive smile on my face. Th's now my pride and joy and I couldn't be happier.
Every little problem i have had i've put on here and the SN members have helped me out no end. The parts suppliers have helped out massively and i've saved myself a fortune! I'm running a great car for cheaper than most people at work in their boring saloons.

Thanks markfey and by the way nice motor. I kind of know what you mean by the evo. Still love them though. I'm looking for something for an every day to day motor. Something to put a smile on my face going to work lol... And with a lot of kick when the foot goes down. Thank again guys. Been on different selling advertisement sites here and the sti are not badly priced. Uk specs that is. It looks like if I bought an evo 5, I could buy an 2002 or 2003 sti for the same money almost.
