That Hawkeye is not in a good state to repair, its a breaker for sure. The transmission, engine, brakes, interior, wheels and turbo should pull back around £5.5k on a bad day and around £7k on a good day.
As "your son" said the classic looks simple, and thats from a non bodyshop point of view.

i think that hawkeye is closer to a cat B than a D.... if it sees the road id be surpised.

Out of curiosity, what would you pay for the classic in terms of costs and additional fees? I mean assume you bid and win it for £500, the you would need to pay £100 fee plus vat and there charges plus vat, and extra monies for not collecting the car before 4pm the next day? It all sounds suspicious to me.

One thing to be careful on salvage is that although it looks like cosmetic damage how do you know it hasn't whacked a curb and bent a lower arm or fubared a wheel bearing?
I did less damage on my scoob (purely bodywork; bonnet, light, fog, indicator, grille, N/S wing, bumper and inner bumper plus paint ) and the overall bill was over £2K with labour done at TRADE rates plus VAT. Parts were all new and genuine Subaru though which a was a big cost, but the prep and paint accounted for a fair chunk too. Sure you probably could get it done cheaper with a bloke in a damp shed with a oily piston compressor and some celly paint
Hawk's got a bent N/S chassis leg...which IS fixable on a jig, but the cost is silly. And it will have definetely have f**ked the n/s cams and head! Its a cat C as it has obvious chassis damage but is still repairable. But the market is flooded with hawks so you won't get a return on it unless you have your own bodyshop and jig. Or a good rolling shell and engine.
