I feel ever so sick .......
Dear **********,
One of the most eagerly awaited sports cars ever to arrive in the UK is about to make its debut. There is no surprise that the BRZ is causing a storm amongst the motoring press. It offers unrivalled handling, accessible driver control, total engagement and superb balance.
It is powered by a normally aspirated 'Boxer' engine, but power is not an issue, with 200PS under the driver's control. The engine is set low and back within the engine bay to deliver the optimum balance - very typical of Subaru.
However, make no bones about it, the Subaru BRZ is going to be in great demand and as initial supply will be available in two trim options with a limited palette of colours, we urge you arrange a test drive and to reserve your order with a dealer to ensure early satisfaction.
---------------------------------------------------------
Who writes this claptrap?
I've never known it to be so quiet at the launch of a new Sports Car ....... the motoring world is extremely underwhelmed.
No mention anywhere to this great occassion ......
I'm sure it's a good car, all Subaru's are, but maybe it has missed its time?

I have an MX5 and agree that it is one of the best cars of all time ....... this will have to be really special to beat the Mazda in smiles per mile.

Another 'Subaru Is Dead' thread by pslewis, change the tune as the record is so last year now and you can only flog a dead horse for so long.
Fair enough you are not Subaru's target market and never will be again unless they diversify into electric shopping trolley manufacture, we get that you don't like the current Subaru line up but how many times can you troll on the same theme?

Not enough power - more accurately, not enough torque around most of the rev range to make the engine/chassis combination "playful" in most circumstances.
Subaru's pragmatic tyre/wheel combination that didn't light their fire on track.
IMO the cars need more torque across more of the rev range. How they achieve that is going to be interesting. The "modern" thing would probably be to fit a turbo or supercharged or twin charged 1.4 or 1.6...

In my opinion the new Toyosub coupe has been highly over rated. I have yet to be convinced that it's anything more than a Celica GT 190 with a new face, a boxer engine and rear wheel drive. Subaru UK have been trying for years to make us believe that every new model will be snapped up just before you managed to get down to the showroom - so why bother??

I think some Subi fans expect every new car to provide some life changing out of body experience.
To be honest it doesn't excite me at all but if you want an MX-5 type car but slightly more butch it should do the job.

In fairness the Subaru Marque has gone downhill recently as regards new car's. they just seem to have lost there wow factor, that head-turn-ability.
I'd buy any decent pre 06 Hatchback model in a heartbeat though, still bring a smile to my face and still turn heads given the right car

never ever in my life would i buy any car brand new, just doesnt = economic sense
ive a basic understanding of how cars are made, and the prices have to incorporte R&D ect ect but
new cars can never represent value for money, depreciation shows that. id never beleive motoring blurb or promotion. we are at a position in time where the reality is theres not one marque thats massively different to the other in comparible price ranges, each hold minor advantages over the other.
having said that, its common knolwege mx-5s are owned solely by gays! i cant and never will understand why there are promoted to such an extent! and yes ive driven more than one in my time, nothing particularly special about them imo
