Default Blobeye reliability

Hey guys noob here, I'm in process of potentially buying a 2005 sti.
I've read a few threads after searching about bottom ends letting go.
My question is, is this the case on the 2005 blobeye and if so is there anything that primarily leads to this?
Thanks
Phil

There are loads of folk on here who have had engine failures but remember some of these cars have..

a) a very hard life
b) lack of servicing
c) mods fitted and not mapped that can cause problems

and so on

Try and get one with loads of service history, few owners, low miles and so on.

The one I'm looking at is totally standard, paintwork is good and full suburban history including cambelt. Just don't wana see my money wasted if it fails and wish I'd bought something boring lol

Go for it mate & pull the pin.

Basically if the car has been looked after & you continue to look after your car it will look after you, simple as.

I've had mine for a yr now n it's been awesome without any problems at all.. Since purchasing it I've always done regular oil change every 3-4000miles to keep engine clean n healthy!

If its got a good history, then go for it.
I used to have one, it was remapped by Mr Forrest to approx 340bhp/335 lb ft
It pulled like a train after he 'fixed it' from PPP mode.
It spent 2 years of its life in PPP mode, and another 2.5 years in Andy mode and never missed a beat.
I know its still going strong today with its new owner too.

They are performance cars and naturally the maintenance schedule reflects that but in my experience they are reliable cars, just make sure you find one that hasn't been abused and has been properly maintained.

I have had 2 blobeyes a uk car and a jdm and both have been very reliable. No issues at all apart from usual service items and brakes etc. which you would expect to change in any car
