Never understood why anyone would fit an ugly fog lamp unit when it's easy to have it in your rear light cluster.

+1.

If you don't buy a red LED buy red lens tape.

Its to make it obvious that its NOT a UK car.

I don`t understand why people fit UK lights to a JDM car, as I MUCH prefer the JDM lights esp in the dark.

But preference is a BIATCH I suppose lol.

IMO the rear end looks much cleaner without a foglight bolted to the underside or the bumper.

I fitted the fog light where the uk one goes. Just need to drill a hole and glue fog light bulb holder from uk light in place.

Why do that on an Import?

They need to have a foglight fitted to be registered.

All I had to do was buy a bulb and swap one wire.

Anybody with half a clue about imprezas will know it's a JDM car.. Why would you need an ugly lamp unit stuck on the back to prove otherwise ?

Here's mine, original STI rear lights with fog light.

Plod are thick down here.
And last thing I don`t want to do is have to explain what it is.

Maybe one day I`ll get around to it, but for now the slim line fog will stay.

Font size on numberplate, plate size, lack of a cat etc etc.

But I prefer the look with the fog underneath.

As above, red coloured light bulb in O/S (MY97-00 clear style) reversing lens - mine happens to be a regular bulb; not an LED, like this:-

Switch on fascia for it with red light for when it's on. Nice and clean looking - sorted.

Hate the hanging SVA foglights - looks ugly; like a means-to-an-end afterthought.

But hey, everyone is different...

And what is the difference, excluding foglight location?
Do JDM's not have a stop and tail light?

I think he could mean(?) the amber indicator lenses of the UK cars not looking so aesthetically pleasing - which I agree with.

From that point of view, it's like taking a step backwards.

The whole of the top lights up with the JDM, as there is no fog lamp.
Being a combined stop and tail, reverse and indicator only.
And the red on white that the STI uses.

Lol, I love the way the whole thing lights up, as you see UK with their cut off and half not illuminated. Just seems a waste.

I need both my reversing lamps as it gets quite dark here and I like to be able to see behind me, so my slimline fog will stay till I can find something better.

I've got one of those horrible aftermarket jobbies in my shed and i just hook it up for the MOT. Last time i completely forgot and got an advisory but still a pass without it.

I'd never even thought of using one of the reverse lights and a red bulb.

Fair enough.

I have a red bulb fitted into the off side reversing light part of the rear cluster but it's not very bright. Can anyone recommend a red LED bulb to replace it that's brighter?

I had to make one up as the rear fog bulb sits at an angle, so not the best for directional LED bulbs:

Name: IMG_0381.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 53.6 KB

Name: IMG_0382.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 60.7 KB

Fitted it looked like this:

Name: IMG_0383a.jpg
Views: 0
Size: 57.8 KB

Tail lights are on in that pic, taken in bright sunlight. I think it was about as bright as the standard brake lights iirc

It was made up from two of the standard red LED replacement bulbs you used to get in Halfords, only cut up and re-joined together again at an angle, so when it was fitted they point out the back

Much prefer the clean look, and as mentioned above make sure the switch has a tell tale light in it as well
