Default Remap licence question.

I have just got a quote for a mapping session and if my car has been re mapped before, i get it 200 quid cheaper as there is no licence fee. Mine has supposed to have been remapped to run on 99 etc but i have no paperwork. Where is my ECU located and will it have a sticker on it ? 2002 Bugeye prodrive.

I know when Scoobyclinic did mine they charged a lot extra because my Prodrive ECU needed `unlocking`. Future remaps should now be A LOT cheaper.

Just read your question PROPERLY, didn`t really help did I

Not really mate, lol, but my quote is from Scoobyclinic. 550+vat if licence needed, 350+vat if licenced already.

There is no sticker on the ECU if it has been mapped with EcuTeK and if the paperwork has been lost then the only real way of knowing is for the mapper to look at the ECU.

You can tell if it has been mapped as the boost will be increased over stock but it could have been mapped by opensource which needs no licence.

How about getting a travelling mapper like racedynamix to map it.......deffo no licence fee if he uses opensource

Boost is at PPP level, around 1.2bar, although i saw it flicking near 1.5 last weekend with a 2 port solenoid, thats with foot in the engine bay though !. Ive just about bought a 3 port solenoid, ( bidding ), then im changing the the turbo for a td05 or higher then map time. Then i guess , fuel pump, pink injectors etc will follow and i will be skint . . more mapping etc
