Default Subaru driver helps man roll into a river and sustain serious injuries. (Peterborough

Just saw this on the news and hope that all parties end up ok.

For those that know this is a really bad road as there are high banks one side and the river the other yet it is a road that people hammer along as its smooth and straight for a couple of miles.

You remember when they drained it down about 7 or 8 years ago? They found that missing guy in his car, a horse box complete with horse and half a dozen nicked cars that had been dumped!

I imagine it will go like Ramsey 40ft road now, 50mph with average speed cameras. Road just ain't big enough for all the traffic it handles as a shrotcut nowdays, theres not even a line down the middle FFS.

Lets just hope everyone comes out of this ok with no lasting injuries.

Absolutley serious! The river nene there seems to be where joy riders go to dump cars. someone who was missing for months was found in his car at the bottom poor guy must have lost control, in 15ish ft water no one knew! They only found this all when they drained the stretch for works!

on my route to work north of cambridge i pass alongside the river and it has recently been dropped from 60 to 40mph for safety, on the plus side there is a perfectly flat 2 mile straight with no side turns just before! Fen roads are fun but can be dodgy!

Its surprising the amount of people who slip up on them. I guess its all the dodgy corners, roadside obstacles and subsidence peeling them open like a semi rotten orange

Kneejerk reaction to every problem round here. Pretty soon it will be 5mph with a man waving a red flag cycling in front.

Travel that road many times a year. Ok to floor it if no other traffic on it, but at peak times it is lethal. Hope people concerned are ok.

Travel the forty foot speed camera stretch nearly every day and still can't see how people end up in the ditch Problem is that one day I will go in thru shear boredom at 50mph. Have you tried maintaining exactly 50 on a dead straight road (one minor bend) for 5 miles with no other traffic about.....yawn. And when I do everyone will say I was obviously going too fast and reduce the speed limit further.

I've been overtaken by pigeons along there ffs. From experience herons can do 35mph. Courmerents? (the black birds that sit on the wires at the Chatteris end) slightly faster. Owls about 40. Swans regularly do 50 down there. And the acceleration of the hawks along there is amazing. Just wish the ducks would fly along the ditch like the other birds instead of across it LOL

North Bank was flooded again this evening. Must be tough on the new owners of the Dog in a Doublet as a lot of their custom comes down that road. Hope they survive, their food is awesome. Sell the steaks by the ounce. You get to choose how the steak is cut at the servery.

They've got a beer garden? Thought it had been covered over and turned into an over flow car park. When were you there last?
