Cool 97 esl fitted n mapped yesterday

first of all a big thanks to duncan (dynamics) as im well chuffed .To be quite honest i wasn't expecting that much differance, just for it to be a bit smoother .As the cars only a 97 uk turbo with minor mods ( sti tmic, ngk 7's,walbro,sports cat,cat back and pannel filter)

i haven't got a graph as i chose to road map it but, after duncan fitted the 3port and esl, im now running duel mafless maps and just over a 50% hike in boost from the standard 0.8 bar to 1.25 bar

its made a hell of a diferance as the tiny td04 spools up fast and the throttle responce is much more aggresive worth every penny thanks again

Glad to hear it mate, going to get my 1997 done with ESL this year sometime, just waiting till I can afford a TD05 16g and yellow 440s to go on it before getting the board fitted and mapped, I want to get a bit closer to 300 bhp than the TD04 will let me!

Yea i was tempted myself as me and my brv are breaking a v1sti with 440 's , fmic and a tdo5 ( top entry though ) which has a dyno graph for 345 bhp . i don't want to put to much strain on the standard clutch and box as its my daily driver .Will admit iv kept the engine(cdb) for a long term project though

Did Duncan have any guesses as to what power you made with the TD04?

From what iv read about 275 ish but i did ask him to map for economy rather than push for power .as the car has full s/h and only 3previous owners but ,there's no mention of a new clutch in the history and although the dif ,box and engine oils have been changed regularly its got 94k on the clock (not bad on a standard clutch). Also my brv's v1sti is running the standard 380's and they maxxed out at 295 with the tdo5 being capable of about 350 at a push ,so there's not much point pushing past 280 (imo ) with the 380's. He's getting some 550's flow matched to which should see him to to about the 345 the v1sti has that we're breaking

I've done loads now as has Bob Rawle I believe. Not sure about the other guys but lots tested and out there working great on everything from 92-96 with the new software running 2 maps and 97-98 with twin maps on impreza, legacy single turbo conversions, leggy twin turbos etc. Works great and keeps all std idle control, cold start, knock control yet gives ability to run mafless or maf based (or both if you wanted one map on each).

Works out at £550 on 92-96 or £575 on 97-98 as lots more soldering work to do on those. All on exchange basis with std ecu.

Not yet but being worked on so may be sometime this year ... putting an Alcatek on there would be a good plan if wanting multiple maps and mafless

Hi Duncan,

A mate of mine over in Newbury had you work your magic on his silver wrx classic (Gaz) and is extremly happy with it,which made me think about mine needing the same magic working on

i currently own a 1999 sti v5 sti wagon with only a few mods (decatted exhaust, k/n cone air filterlightened flywheel, excedy pink clutch, baileys dv) had it over to charlies at SRR and achieved 302.9bhp,my question is what can be done with mine?
im not after gearbox shreading bhp numbers or planning hiring a petrol tanker to follow me ,but what could my car safely run? and what sort of prices am i looking at ?
Hope you can help
regards
Neil

cheers duncan for the comments ,advise and quality service iv now done just over 100 mls since the map and i seem to have the best of both worlds with improved performance and economy . i will admit iv had to switch to the low boost map now due to the 94k clutch not liking the increased power . well at least i know what the next mod, on the long wish list, will be
