either way 1ltr a week is way to much, get it to your trusted mechanic for a proper check

It's 16 years old so probably worn out and in need of a full engine re-build.

Who re-built the bottom end ?
I'd be getting it back there for a check over urgently. 1Lt of oil a week is crazy and should have alarm bells ringing.
How long have you been driving it while using that amount of oil ?

You didn't mention that in your opening post. what parts were replaced during this re-built and who did it?

Blue smoke, usually means oil, i would look at the top of the engine, valves/valve oil seals, pistons/rings, etc as oil is getting into the cylinder(s) and burning off by the sounds of it

yes i have been told by the garage its one of three things

valve stem seals
piston ring
turbo

i would obviously rather it be turbo as its only a standard td05 and would be a hell of a lot cheaper than taking head off and replacing gasket etc.

i have not fgilled it back up with oil and doesnt seem to be using any but still smoking

also i have been told that if it was the piston ring or valve stem seals it would take 1-2 months of gradually smoking before getting to this piont, and thats not the case with mine it just started smoking like it is now more or less in 1 day???

just after some ideas before i go ahead have have to spend a fortune ripping the heads off etc.

thanks
alex

well i had the oil replaced about 6 weeks ago by a garage for a service
then i had it replaced again about 3 weeks ago when i had a little oil leak and did all the bottom end seals and cam gaskets
then about 2 weeks ago it started smoking and checked the oil it was fine then 3 days ago checked the oil and it was low so put 2 ltrs in to get it back to full and now its sitting on full

sorry
alex

I take it your still running it in or have you finished your running in period? Have you changed injectors or anything fuel related? As if it's a new build and you changed injectors for arguments sake without being mapped for it you could be getting bore wash, which is where petrol passes the rungs n mixes with the oil n makes it really thin which then can easy pass the rings and burn it off. Just another posibility. Id still prob say it's the turbo oil seals as mentioned in peoples previous posts.

no i havent changed anything on the car i had just baught it and wanted it right thats why i had bottom end built yes i ran it mate

i think first piont of call is pop a another turbo on it and see if that gets rid of it ?

will i have to run it for about 50 miles with another turbo to get rid of the excess oil before it will calm down if that is the problem ?

thanks a lot
