i have a classic impreza turbo with an sti intercooler and just wondered is the scoop undertray on a classic sti the same as a turbo or wrx, are they all the same? and if different will i need the right one or do i need the undertray at all? can i just remove it for more air into the intercooler?

Yes, you need the undertray to direct the air into the cooler.

I know that the undertray differed between coolers - for example a V7 undertray will be different to a V3 - and you will need to match the relevant undertray to the intercooler you're using.

I don't know if they differed between STi/WRX/T2000 of the same version though.

oh ok cheers yeah i thought it helps direct the air into the intercooler, but was also thinking if removed would it let in more air in? but obviously not so ill just keep it how it is. the sti intercooler is bigger than the turbo 2000/wrx intercooler so i would of thought the scoop undertray would be bigger to, to match but couldnt find anything about it on the internet.

ok yes i am interested, so by that answer it means there is an sti undertray to suit the sti intercooler and i think my intercooler is the v3 sti to so thats perfect (it was on the car already when i bought it)

there is an sti scoop undertray 97-00 on ebay and it looks the same as the one i already have but not 100% sure, it may be slightly bigger unless its not really an sti one...

I hate to drag up an old thread, but I'm trying to find the answer to the same question. Was the STI scoop undertray different (larger) for the STI classics than the WRX and UK classics?
