Default Spec C Exhaust

What difference does a Milltek 3" turbo back with sports cat make to a 2006 Spec C?

People who've changed from a standard exhaust to a 3" system on a JDM car - what differences did you notice?

I have the lovely Milltek 3" on there at the moment but I may be forced to go back to standard to get the thing registered over here in Switzerland so i want to know what this will do to the car.

Will I lose the lovely throttle response? Will I lose the superbike howl at high revs? Does the OE system reduce power?

thought so.

You went from standard exhaust to 3"?

What does the standard system sound like? Any discernable change in throttle response?

That's bit of a shame the regulations must be super strict....can't you swap just to get it passed???

I would suggest otherwise that when you go for the emissions test ensure that the exhaust is super hot and that you don't have to wait around until the measure the emissions.

I used to have to take my spec C (with Miltek) for a good blast before getting the MOT done, my local tester was great he would ensure that he measured it straight away.

BTW if you can't keep i'll buy it!!!

Your effectively removing the type 20 package as exhaust and remap with panel filter is the type 20 engine package. You will still have more power than a uk spec car, will need a remap though. Should still get good performance but will be much quieter.

Thanks for the advice. Indeed I suppose with a decent remap I shouldn't lose too much - 345 / 340 should be possible on the standard exhaust. Would be a real shame to lose the glorious noise though :-(

My standard Spec C was 295hp ish from memory on the rollers (gutted at the time as thought they made 310), went to 375 ish with RCM zorst, induction, 3 port, some wizardry with the actuator + remap.

TX.

Are you not allowed to fit any aftermarket parts at all, as surely they must have something like our sva test, or are all kit cars banned as well. Hope we don't get this tight overhere as original parts are expensive and not easy to get especially as cars get older.

You pretty much can't do anything to modify your car. Competitive Motorsport is banned because its too dangerous. Hundreds of people are killed maimed and paralysed each year on the ski slopes but that's fine.

Think I better keep it on uk plates.

The uk does seem to be getting stricter as well, judging by the new mot laws. I really do hope they don't blindly follow the rest of Europe.

Its the backbox on the standard system, makes it very quiet, just changing the backbox improves things but as I have a new system coming I wont really need to bother worrying about that anymore

Hyward and Scott system dont want too much noise and they make really decent exhausts (plus I wanted a sports cat).

Nice mate, well have to meet up and have a nosy over each others cars. I was over Slough way earlier. Didn't park up though as I like my wheels on my car!

Any of you guys still have your old Spec C exhaust available?

I'll have mine available from the turbo back as soon as I get around to getting my other fitted. Should be first week in April.
