It may have been brought into the country new in 2003. Which is why its registered as a 2003. Its obviously not a my2003 though. Guess it could have been sitting unregistered for a few years

Dvla are useless, they registered my 1991 Mazda RX7 as a 1998 vehicle on the log book when it was bought into the country. Suspect this is an error too.

No they're not the same. One is a WRX and one is an STi. Similar power figures to be honest though. And they do exist. One is coming to my place tomorrow for a photoshoot along side my STi

There are sales brochures on the Type RA site for both models

http://www.type-ra.co.uk/vB/showthread.php?t=6580

The do exist

Yep,
WRX Type R V-limited was first available in Sep 97 (version 4) and carried on until the end of the classics.
The WRX type R lacked the normal STI treatment and therefore was quite a bit cheaper.

I do believe the WRX V-limited type R's had large 'WRX' stickers on the side yes.
I also think (not 100%) that the WRX had a roof vent. Could be wrong though but sure I remember seeing a pic of a WRX V-limited type R with a roof vent.

Matty,
The WRX Type R V-Limited didn't have the stickers.
The stickers on the side have "Tuned by STi" on them, which the WRX Type R was not.
The WRX Type R V-Limited has a roof vent as do the V5 & V6 Type R Limiteds.
The link Steve posted to the RA site has the press release & a scabby brochure scan for the V-Limited series of cars.
I will upload a high quality scan of the brochure once I've finished scanning them all in.

Yea wasn't 100% sure about the stickers. But after you said that I took a closer look at a few pics.
