Default Grrr.... clutch labour cost?

Hi Guys

As some of you may know, my scooby 03 wrx is on 120k and (that im aware of) is still on the original clutch which at the weekend has started showing signs of packing in, i.e set off, 1st fine, changed to second, revs went up, car didnt go anywhere (clutch foot nowhere near it) and stank like a fishermans crack. Not good, i knew it was going to need doing soon so looking for ideas of what labour should be costing me, also is it a good idea to have the clutch & flywheel replaced at the same time?

Cheers

if your going to replace the flywheel get a lightened version although the original would only need skimming not replacing, makes sure it is skimmed before replacing clutch as if it isnt it can cause juddering on the new clutch.
labour cost would be £250 to £300 mark i would say.

Had one done by the Clinic many years back and had one of their Billet Flywheels fitted at the same time - a very worthwhile addition.

Messaged Adam to book in @ the clinic, to be honest, i can get it done cheaper and a lot closer but im more of a "you get what you pay for" kinda guy and rather pay for a good job from a reputable and expert company.

That's excellent labour cost. It's "apparently" 6 hours to fit a 6 speed clutch ??

Mine took 5 hours but can be done in less time if all the bolts come off easily.

I've got a similar problem after having the Scoob mapped. Standard clutch can't cope with the extra torque so only slips at high gear/low rev combinations. I contacted Harvey and he said it would be circa £160 to fit a clutch. Now I'm going for an exedy organic clutch for a my99 uk classic, so uprated. I'm sourcing it from Camskill for £270 delivered. That makes it £430 fitted, for an uprated clutch by a very reputable specialist. Some places wanted £200-200+vat to fit! I'm one for 'you get what you pay for' but I'm also one for 'more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better'.

Will book the Subaru in with Harvey once funds allow.

My Type R clutch (std) has just started letting go after 3K miles on 330/320. Happens with passenger and start of boost mostly - frustrating.

Even more of a bummer is the 'box needs a refresh too

Booked in Thursday for Exedy and box work ~£1K

What would be the extra cost of a lightened flywheel in a clutch change?

IIRC the the flywheel is easy to remove one the clutch is out of the way so really you just have to cover the cost of the fly which for the Clinic's item is £330

I think so yes. When i had mine done the car revved faster and for a good few days after having it done, i found i was hitting the rev limiter when i usually didn't get near to doing so. The car felt faster so i was plenty happy and it would be very high on my list of things to do if i got another Scoob
