1/4 mile times Classic at 400bhp Hawk at 460bhp?
Out of interest just wondering what sort of 1/4 mile times 400bhp classics are making in particular if you have a 2.1 stroker type r what are you achieving.
I'm running around that figure but it's never been on the strip yet be interesting to know what I should be looking at?
Also interested to know what 460bhp hawks are getting I have a challenge on my horizon.

Yeah I am hoping it might be quicker as long as I don't destroy the transmission 400 is maybe the limit of what power it'll cope with although I've heard of people with more running a standard box. Hopefully it's first launch doesn't put it to the grave but I'll maybe have it upgraded before then, along with a little more power. Just trying to get a bit of insider info to see what sort of times we both might get. I feel he's too confident haha

Standard 5 speed? 400bhp the limit? you have gone well beyond it, normally hard launches will kill it quicker, you must be pushing over 350lbs of torque (alot die earlier than that) with that setup?
I would be a little careful if you want to drive the car home

I've been running 400 through the standard box for over a year now with no issues at all but been pretty mechanically sympathetic with it an not driven it too hard. I do know of a similar set up to mine although a 2.2 that was running 430 ish on the standard box for a while but not heard from him for a long time I'd imagine it has been swapped out by now.

Forget PPG, they are not that good, they still use the standard 5th gear which is what goes and chews your box up, you need the scoobyclinic gearset though not cheap, shouldnt munch your box

Should be able to get into the 11's with a 400 hp classic. I did a 12.4 with a 2.1 60 ft and 4 normal gearchanges testing my clutch at totb.

alrite guys, instead of dumping the clutch out on the line all the time n giving it a kicking try getting the clutch to the bite with the handbrake on, alot less strain on on the car and still get a fast lanch.
just thought id through it in there

my evo3 did a 12.3 1/4 at santa pod. car was a 2.3stroker 370bhp 390ftlb..1270kg
that was with no lunch as I still had standard clutch at the time lol..
id guess a classic type r with same kinda power would be well into the mid low 12s

Its impossible to say what time a certain car will run. It comes down to the driver and conditions.
I ran my 400+ classic at the pod in pretty poor conditions, spun up through first and second and ended up with a 12.7 at 120mph. I know of imprezas with little over 300bhp run faster times than that and I know of imprezas with more power than my old car and run slower times.
I believe that a little classic with circa 400 ponies could run mid 11's with perfect conditions and a driver who is not concerned about damaging the car.
