Default Advanced Automotive Bristol

Hi,

I've not posted in here in ages, but felt I must mention Advanced Automotives in Bristol. My rb5 failed the mot yesterday on a front wheel bearing. Called a few supplier last night and was pretty shocked at the prices, £60 plus vat and so on. Most people didn't have them in stock and I Needed it ASAP, so thought I'd try eBay. I found an ad for Advanced, so I emailed them.

Got a reply last night saying they were in stock, and listed at £36. Bargin I though, anyway couldn't wait for delivery, so I decided to collect. The lady Cathy was more than helpful and it has to be said she knows her stuff. Got the bearing for £32 all in, so I am an extremely happy person. The stock they have got is absolutely mind blowing and they do all machine work in the back of the shop. I've had my rb5 for 10 years plus now, and am wondering why I haven't found these people before.

Pleasure to do business with and I will definitely be using them in future.

For anyone else that might need an exceptionally good service, the telephone number is 0117 9672344, ask for Cath. Email enquiries@advancedautomotives.com. They are located 271 two mile hill road, Kingswood Bristol BS15 1AX.

Cheers Phill

I spoke to a lady Cath and she knew a hell of a lot more about scooters than me. They clearly like escort mark 2 rs2000 as well. Apparently they have been there for best part of 20 years, I wish I knew this 10 years ago, when I first bought my rb5

I couldn't believe what they had in stock, 2.1, 2.3 stroker kits and all sorts. A complete cam belt kit with tensioner, and the roller bits including belts was around £160 which is getting on for the cost of a cam belt at the main stealers.

Credit where credit is due

Bearing is fitted so ready for a retest today. It looks like I need another set of front hubs, or the middle bit that attaches to the wheel. Strange wearing on the shaft which we believe could be ******** the bearings every year?

Thanks Phill

I'm fine thanks.

If you look at my project thread I've done a peice on changing wheel bearings. There's a photo of the 'bad' hubs with light 'fretting' on them. If you see this then the hubs are scrap and you need new one's. If you don't change the hibs then the bearings fail prematurely...

Hubs are about £184 from the stealers IIRC. Each.

Cath has already done a quote for me that is much less than the main stealers, including new bearing seals and so on to be fair I think mine have had it but due to funds will replace them both in a couple of months!!

Thanks Phill

Ps Floyd have you got a link and I'll take a look

Advanced Automotive are among the best Subaru specialists in the country . They supplied all the parts for my forged 2.5 and Nick did all the machine work on my blocks . Their prices are great too .

Looked at your pictures and ditto, although mine are no-where near as bad as yours, I have the wear on the side edge!!

I think it's all agreed then, Advanced Automotive are a great company to deal with. What I am struggling to understand is why I haven't found them before. I live less than 8 miles from the shop. And I have spent so much money on couriers alone over the past few years, when all I had to do was pop over there!!

Lesson learnt anyway, they are my favourite supplier at the moment.

Well done Cath and Nick keep up the good work!!

Thanks Phillp
