Anyone running over 1.5 bar?
I'm interested to hear from people running over 1.5bar on a standard engine, ecu , map/maf sensors. I have a gt30 fastened to my standard jdm bugeye engine. It's mapped to 1.5bar but wondered what other people have pushed theirs to and for how long.
I think 1.7bar would be fine. Maybee??

Hi there
On standard ECU you can run above 1.5bar,but you will need at least 3bar MAP sensor, plus i would suggest bigger MAF tube.. Or you can run like Group N map via OS,which can allow you run mafless on your OE ECU
If would your engine will last, not sure, but if its healthy will be should be OK

Cheers Jura. Do you know anyone running over 1.5 bar and if so for how long. My engine is a nice healthy low mileage unit so will hopefully be up to the job.

Tez, would you not require an aftermarket boost control to do this? Have you not spoke to Andrew about it? I was running 1.4bar on my UK MY02 with the GT30 (3076) when I was close to maxing out the injectors with FPR, and Andrew said there is a little more to be had but without a BC we would be mapping blind, so if I was going this route larger injectors and BC would be required, or injectors and aftermarket ECU.
I would ask Andrew buddy

Ey up rob. I have id1000 injectors, an aps 725 front mount and a Bosch 044 all fitted so fueling and cooling is pretty much sorted.
What power were you running with your gt30?
I think 1.6ish is about where I need to be.

Andrew said there was more to come, but we had maxed out the Injectors with a decent FPR, so we later mapped for 20% meth, It was estimated that with the 413bhp we must be getting close to 430, with simular torque, ohhh and at this point I went FMIC and altered the induction slightly which seem to have minimal affect on how the car spooled.

Talk to your mapper of choice, JGM set mine to just dump enough fuel in at WOT, you don't run at 1.9-2 bar at part throttle...

P.S. GRD made 500+ on an STI lump IIRC.

Crikey I take it you're saving rebuild funds somewhere just in case? Big boost for a standard engine ...
Just from reading other threads on here recently, high boost seems to lead to hg failure.
TX.

I've heard people running 500bhp on standard engines for a couple of years with no problems. I thin the right supporting mods and a good maintainace program are key to this, just curious as to what boost they are running to get this power.

All depends on your version of OEM ECU, MAP sensor and experience and knowledge of your mapper.
I'm running up to 1.8bar and still have all the safety measures intact. But you need to take the above into account.
Speak to your mapper for advice.

Thanks for all the replies and advice. I think my first step is to fit a 3 bar map sensor and take the boost to 1.65bar. After speaking to my mapper and the advice from here I think this is the best option for what I want out of the car at the moment.
Il keep you all posted.
