Me. I have a KIA Shuma as a second car. It's copped all the supermarket car park dings the scooby was supposed to cop. No dings or scratches on my MY00 scoob, which I bought from brand new, 1 1/2 years ago. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

Similar to you Stu, have the Exige for the fun stuff, the Scoob for wet fun stuff or longer journeys, but we also have a smart for the station run, car parks, and general A to B stuff.
(We also have an MGB, so no Stu, you aren't the only one with this problem)

Okay, so who's bought a Scoob, only to rush out and buy another (cheap) car so they:-
a) don't pile the miles on their pride & joy and
b) keep it away from low life as much as possible.
Just taken delivery of a little 'curry bus' (Seat Arosa) so we can park in the less salubrious areas of the North without having to worry about the MY02 WRX wagon....

Good stuff Wrexy - got the little Seat so we can nip off for a curry without having to sit outside eating and watching the car all the time.....
To be honest, it's a great little thing. Still running it in, and it's only a one litre, but the engine's eager and the interior's great. Standard fit stereo is at least as good at the WRX's!!

Have to say I am not that paranoid about my car these days. When I was 21 and had my 205 GTi I was paranoid as hell. Wouldn't go here, wouldnt park there etc but it is just silly.
A car is there to be enjoyed, and what is the point of buying a Scoob etc, then buying a Kia, Seat, Fiesta etc?
I believe you should just use the car, drive it how it was designed to be driven, and take it anywhere. As long as it is insured and immobilised who cares? You can replace it if it gets nicked.
Just IMHO

I drive 30k a year in the Scoob. To be honest, having trawled forwards and backwards all week the last thing I want to do at the weekend is more driving (and I have a missus and two kids to keep me occupied). So the daily drive is really the only driving I do. If I kept the Scoob as a second car (or indeed any sort of second car) I reckon it would go months without being used

Hiya Jonny - how far do you have to travel each day in the Nova? Bet you can't wait for the weekends - to get some Scooby action!
The only car I've actually had nicked was a beat up old Escort 1.6L. So pleased to see it go - bought a Scirocco with the insurance money. ;0)

Dizzy - I have actually. When I was 21 and finished at uni my mum gave me her XR2 and it was a minter. D-Reg (this is back in 1995) with 50k miles.
I could only insure it 3rd Party, so we cancelled the TPFT and went with TP only. 5 days later some Scouser nicked it on a trip to Blackpool - they found the shell in Crosby 6 months later.
In total it cost me about £1500, and after finishing uni that is a lot to lose.
Having said that (and I revoke my comments somehwat here), cheap cars are great for going out on the p1ss, and leaving in the town centre. We always take the better half's H reg Clio when we will be leaving it, as we (I) are not bothered about it getting nicked.

I just got a Yamaha Aerox 100 Max Biaggi Moped for my town commute to work 2k all in and does 90mpg ish Costs me 4 quid a week in petrol to the scoobs 40, its wicked fun and will hit 59mph stock Loads of mods available for it too, so looks like I'm off down that road with that too 125cc conversion............

Good idea Harry, I am actually thinking of doing a similar thing myself. I am seriously considering one of those Peugeot Scooters for the daily (slow) commute to work. I reckon I could get to work 10 minutes quicker on one of those than in the Scoob (Mainly because the Scoob has to sit in the queues, the Scooter zips past between the cars)
Failing that I might buy an old Fiesta to take to work in all the traffic. Then when the weekend comes I will really appreciate the Scoob
I know what you mean about the low life, I dread parking mine anywhere in Sheffield where I work Even our car park got attacked the other week by some kids on the rob We now have a security guard.

If I could afford it, I'd sod the worry, use the Scoob every day, and get a 360 Modena for the weekends. But, as it stands, I'm doin' it the other way, as Yoza puts it.....
Worked out that, given that we're splitting the mileage between cars, plus the Arosa economy, low insurance etc, having two cars is costing maybe £10 per week more...... At least, that's the justification anyway ;0)

Got a volkswagon passat estate for taking the dog to the beach, rubbish to the dump, A X5 would be nice for a second car, Auto let everyone past car, rather than the flat out everywhere 01, just makes a change and you appreciate the Subaru more.

The only reason I bought the scoob was because it was such a good all rounder, It does the shopping, does 500 mile round trips at a weekend and a few trackdays a year . If I were going to go the 2 car route the 2nd car wouldn't be the scoob!. Westfield Megabird methinks
