can you reset your mapped ecu by taking fuses out to check them?

When i had the ecutek map put on my car the prodrive map remained on the ecu but the car is set to use the ecutek map. To put it back to the prodrive map it will need the mapper to switch it over. Re-setting the ecu by disconnecting the battery or doing an ecu re set will not change the de-fault map setting. That will just wipe the learning bits its learned.

I think the OP whats to know if he runs a risk of reseting his mapped ECU if he was taking some fuses out to check them (i could be wrong). If that is the questions then the answer is no it wont reset your map. Both of replies do answer the question.

Yeah, the IAM will have been reset to the default 'centre' postiion. In a few miles of varied driving it'll be back to maximum/optimum timing advance again.

Nowt to worry about.

Prodrive map doesnt remain in the ecu. Its overwritten when it is mapped.

The prodrive licence used to load the prodrive map will remain and an ecutek standard tuner licence will have been added but the prodrive map is long gone.

Im not arguing as i know your a well respected mapper/ engine builder ect but the way i understood it at the time when Bob mapped mine was ,map 1 in the ecu is the ppp map, map 2 is the ecutek map Bob had just put on. He showed it to me on his laptop when loading the ecuteck base map. Maybe i misunderstood?

Bob probably downloaded the PPP map's settings to a file on his laptop first (just in case it was re-needed/you wanted it back).

Bob would have then overwritten the original PPP map on the ECU when you had the car mapped (PPP map erased on the ECU for good).

AFAIK, the OEM ECU cannot store 2 switchable maps(?).

That's prob what has happened(?).
