i started a thread the other day on this very subject.i'm in the same boat as u. mines a uk car, with 7k worth of upgrades. its 6 months old, now worth 15K!
i give up!! however, after speaking to some of the guys here, it seems euro import is the way to go as uk dealers seem happy to service the car, some will take it as a trade in etc. i feel ive been stung buying a uk car!

Here we go again.......another one for the new "echoes in here doesn't it" forum....
The used car market is in freefall - or has that fact gone unnoticed - everyone wanted cheaper new cars - what's that going to do to secondhand ones, especially when supply exceeds demand....
We bought two new MY00's 8 months ago, and spent about 4k extra on each....what are they worth, don't know, and don't care, we're too busy enjoying driving them.....when we sell them, we will get what they are worth at the time!

Exactly Dave lets worry about what we will get when we go to sell them, until then just sit back with the knowledge that you have one of the best drivers cars available today - I do and enjoy every second.

I think you guys are getting a bit obsessed. Yes the Impreza's a very good A-B car but I don't find it that great, in fact I'd have to say a bit of a let down given all the hype.

It's not so much fun when your running 3.5K's worth of negative equity (and I'm sure there's people with more) it's pretty sobering.
I bought a 2 year old car that depreciated by 30% (of it's value when I bought it) in 6 months, well I'm not too happy but I see where you're coming from.

Makes not sense to me - I'd keep the R any day!!!!!!!!!!

Negative Equity!! The last car i bought B4 I got my Scoob was a brand new Escort 1.8 Ghia Cabriolet for 18k it had 25k miles on the clock when I eventually managed to sell it 3 years later, I lost 11K on this car, so I don't think 2.5K is to much to bleat about.
Car was Imaculate not a single scratch on it, I had a company car hence the low milage on the escort.

This will make you sick guys.
A year ago myself and a friend both purchased a MY00 from Holland. It cost us £15000 after little extras like alarms etc. We have both had them serviced at main dealers and had 1 year warranty with Subaru. My mate has had the chance to go and work in the States and sold the car last week with 7k on the clock for £16,500. Theres the living proof that buying a new car in Britain is just one big rip off.
