I'm taking 145,000 mike region here...
Just seen a 54plate PPP WRX black wagon in PistonHeads that you could probably get for a shade over 2K! All motorway miles, fully serviced inc belts etc. surely it's worth just running into the ground for that money?? Any problems at this mileage other than the obvious?

Yeah sorry that was just for reference mate! From the pictures it looks very clean inside and out but like you said... I've had 4 classics so I'd have to have my wits about me testing a newage for mileage.
Thanks for that info Quicksilver, just what I was after!

Theres plenty of classics with 200k ish so no reason a newage can't do it as it's considered to be a bit stronger, so as above at that money if all seems well no reason not to have a punt.

I'd rather have a car that has done a lot on long journeys rather than one that's spent it's life around town - start stop start stop. It may well be fine, don't worry too much about mileage, as others have said look at condition ans also service history.
I wouldn't *not* buy a high mileage car, but if a lower mileage car was available at the same money and the condition wasn't worse than the high miler I'd go for that.
I had a saab 9k a couple of years back, bought it at 156k miles and broke it for parts at 170k or so. It was sweet as a nut, except the bushings were a bit tired. It spent almost all of its life with me running a big Holset turbo, and when I opened the engine up, everything looked in real good order still.
Back in the "olden days" I might have been a bit worried about such high mileage cars, but nowadays i'd consider a day-to-day car barely run in at 70-80k
