Question

Just a quick ponder, I have a 22B Type Uk however whenever I need any parts I seem to be having trouble ordering them I think this is due to the fact that the cars chassis number starts with a GC8 which I am told is a Japanese chassis number can anyone out there with a 22B Type Uk tell me if their chasis number also starts with the GC8 or is it just mine?

As far as I am aware they all carry the same sequence of chassis numbers - the UK cars just went through the relevant tests and had the speedo etc mods that separated them from grey imports - but the imports and UK cars were all identical cars when they originally came off the line in Japan.

dc911,

GC8 is the Impreza chassis code for a 4 door shell, it's shared by all 4 door cars, since they all have the same shell (bar MY01 maybe).

If it's a Type UK then it will be fully covered by IM, so give 'em hell, and if they don't wanna play, get in touch with Prodrive, their customer support for official cars such as yours seems to be well above average

Cheers,

Pat.

dc911,

If your 22b has a 4 door shell, you'll have more to worry about than getting spare parts

Pat, are you sure you are correct

Dave, Type UK 22b's also have different gear ratios - there was a bit more to it than just UK type approving them .

Suggest you ask here :

Er - yes, Pat is right, but according to those codes GC8 *also* covers 2 doors models - ie a 22B !!
So dc911 is safe - I agree also - speak to prodrive, there customer service is excellent.

It is true though that Prodrive/IM are very cautious when supplying parts for 22B type UKs. My dealer used to get the third degree when trying to get me parts - original owner, original reg etc etc. Not a problem anymore though, luckily I like the dealer and I'm happy to stick with them now.
