INSURANCE??
HI THERE BOUGHT A SCOOB TURBO AND JUST SAYS SUBARU ON MOT AND LOG BOOK NO TURBO , SPORT , IMPRTZA , ETC AND WHEN I *** TO INSURE IT CARS NOT CUMMING UP LOL SO I WAS THINKING PUTTING IT IN AS A 2.0 GL WHAT YU GUYS THINK ?? SAFE TO INSURE AS GL OR SPORT ??
Hi there... no need to SHOUT...
At the end of the day if you insure it as a GL and do have an accident as soon as the assesor sees a turbo bolted to the engine your insurance will be invalid. Your'e call really, valid insurace or a worthless bit of paper!

Phne the DVLA up and get it sorted mate. If you insure it as a sport or gl. . Not only u commiting fraud. . it's also another small reason why those with turbo's Insurance is skyrocketing (if you claim)..you'd be invalid.
Whatever you do dont insure it as a non turbo or a cheaper to insure model!!
Send the logbook away to have it changed as well

I'm with the other posters, Don't risk it because you will be in effect un-insured if your vehicle is not the exact type you insured. The police can pull you over, check on their data base then check your car. 6 points and a heavy fine.

av had a few turbos was just asking abt the insuance that was all i know it will be a few bob turbo spells ££££££££££s on insurance lol just wanted a few opinions thats all
I also thing that if you get stopped by the police, their computer will mention what you have it insured as (check ASKMID, mine shows as an impreza wrx), if the policeman knows anything about cars he will know you arent insured correctly. Most traffic police do have an interest in cars too so will know. Its not like you have a zetec fiesta sport and are insuring it as a bog standard model or something equally as vague.
Is it a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car? Mine is, and it too just says 'Subaru' on the log book.
You'll find that if you can't specify exactly which UK model it is, most insurers will be unable to quote for it as they don't know what they're quoting for. When you do find one who will, prepare to have your wallet mugged for a very large amount.
I'd try Keith Michaels who were the only firm who'd even give me a quote a few weeks back , let alone a competitive one (and my licence is squeaky clean, and I'm old too).

Good luck, but for heavens sake don't be tempted to try to pull a fast one with insurers - they don't compromise when trying to avoid paying out in such cases.
