Red face

In Autocar this week it says that the UK won't be getting the Jap spec Forester Turbo which has 217bhp and 228lb/ft. UK car gets 175bhp only. No doubt this is due to Euro emission standards again like with the STIV
The engine of this new Forester would be ideal in the MY03 Impreza, extra torque might offset the weight gain

Yorkie,

It's nothing to do with emmissions, it's just that Subaru/IM decided they wanted us to have a lower spec one. It's basically the same engine as the Impreza but running less boost.

Wink

Why's that. Do IM think we're not responsible enough to handle all that power?

Interesting stuff Yorkie - I saw that report and thought exactly the same.

Is the Japanese spec Forester Turbo running the new active valve control engine (like the JDM spec WRX)? If so, it's different to the one we'll be getting.

Sounds like it's the same engine as we have now, identical to impreza but with a smaller turbo and different ECU. At least the car will weigh less!

Cool

I think in Japanese society they have respect for other individuals and their choice.

As a society, we do not any more.

In the UK rather than marvel at technology, people despise what thye can't have/don't understand. So IM tone stuff down, for the UK bore with no sense of imagination/adventure so they won't be upset by "mad" cars.
