Default My new blobeye Sti with TSL 333 upgrade :)

Hi guys, havent been on this site for a while as i sold my previous subaru around 9 months ago... Been saving up for a while and this gem came up for sale so i had to have her!!

She has had in the infamous TSL 333 package installed, and recently had TSL unequal length Tubular Exhaust Headers, so power is estimated at 350bhp

Any comments welcome

the tsl 333 is TSL motorsports own take on a upgrade package, lots of tuning companys do somthing like it, but you do get a snazy 333 badge on the boot

Very nice indeed, just be careful when approaching junctions where people are waiting to pull out, as i never had soooooo many people pull out on me as when i had a silver car, especially in the winter months, and going down hill, very difficult to see against the background of a gray sky, i resorted to keeping the lights on all the time.

No doubt you will find out all about this, be safe.

That used to be my car. It was linked to TEGIWA as its my company and wanted a car to test some parts on.
As you can see it has the TEGIWA CF air box which was developed on that car and a few other parts like the radiator, hoses, cooling plate etc.

Great car though, I loved driving it especially with the DCCD set to rear. Get someone to drive it past you as I always thought it was a quiet car and everyone told me that it wasn't. It definitely isn't

Question

I'm baffled to why you replaced your exhaust manifold?
Was it faulty in any way??
You know that virtually no after market manifold for a new age STI is as good as the standard item (if you port the standard item you end up with a better unit ) and since you have changed the manifold, have you had the car remapped?

Nice car otherwise

At the current level of tune, you're probably right that a properly ported standard manifold would be at least, just as effective. Taken to the next stage of turbo/induction/injectors etc. the tubular manifold starts to become an effective addition.
As you say, as it stands, a map adjustment is essential

The TSL333 pack includes a map and this is when the equal length header was installed. It made an amazing sound and I didn't meet one person who didn't agree.
The car was then mapped at a later date when the air box was installed.

Each to their own I guess and it all depends on who can get their hands on what. Not sure you would really turn down an equal length header.

EVO Magazine, June 04
“TSL Motorsport’s 333 kit offers the best balance of performance and price” “Extra power is instantly noticeable over the PPP and …… it feels the most driveable” “Here’s an engine that combines smooth low-down power with a dizzying top-end rush” “Overall a convincing package” “The TSL 333 just has the edge in terms of driveability … and is the one to go for.”

So lets get this right, the car had already had the standard STI manifold replaced with equal length headers, then mapped again with the airbox, but now the new owner has gone back to uneven length (so it needs mapping again), see my point?

I have checked the history of the car and it says it has TSL Tubular manifold header pipes...

http://www.tsl-motorsport.co.uk/news...0008&detail=34

These are unequal length so it still has the nice subaru burble, but doesnt sound like your everyday sti, sounds more like a rally car!

Yes i agree, it does sound quiet from inside, but all my mates have said it sounds like an animal at full chat..

Luke, when you had the airbox installed and the final map, did you get it dynod? Im intrigued as to what the power output of the car is with the uprated manifold and airbox.

Nice!

Interesting airbox design, does it do anything better than a standard one or is it just cosmetic?

The car was mapped for the final time with just the air box added. The exhaust was fitted earlier to that date.

The air box gave a gain of 8 BHP from memory but had a good flow so it would again come into its element with a new turbo and other mods.
